Cairo or Coast before Red Sea Liveaboard?

Cairo itself is busy, noisy, and dirty. But there's a lot to see in Islamic architecture. Across the river are the Pyramids which are a lifetime event. Navigating the streets of Cairo is a constant hassle, but the rewards are substantial if you have an interest in the history, art, and culture.

    Disturbing trend in diving?

I generally find the value of a thread is in inverse proportion to the number of replies. Sometimes known as clickbait. And I'm not really bothered by why and how and with what equipment others choose to dive.

Packing for long-term travel with scuba gear

I can pack my BP/W, shorty wetsuit, Force Fins, Mask, Reg set, 2 pairs of shorts, 3 Tee shirts, rain parka, hoodie, and a minimum of personal/ support items in an airline legal carry on. I also carry a maximum sized personal item (bag) for valuables and overflow. The main bag probably weighs ~30...

    Info Beginners Guide To BP/W

Have enough dives that you're comfortable underwater. IMO, AOW is mainly a way to get a variety of dives in a supervised scenario. AOW certification potentially opens a lot of diving opportunities.

Scuba pro used mk10 and d350

I've been diving a d400 for about eight years now. IMO it's the best second stage I've ever seen (never seen a TFX :)). I maintain all my regulators.. except the d400. The d400 I send to @rsingler. He has the parts and the knowledge to work on them. I think buying a d350 as a new diver would be...

    Upgrading Computer Peregrine vs Perdix

After a brief flirtation with the Teric I'm back with the Perdix. My little dive light with dual circular o-rings in a dynamic capacity, and needing to open to recharge the 18650 at least once a day while diving has never flooded. My Perdix with dual circular o-rings, in a static seal, opened...

Force Fins - Not exactly vintage, but going away.

They were long the target of derision and ridicule here on SB until split fins took over.

    Sold! Shearwater Teric

Offered is a mint condition green Shearwater Teric with 21 dives, manufactured 2023-10-11 and still under warranty. All accessories included. I bought the Teric to replace my Perdix, but have found that the Perdix is easier for me to read. The Teric is flawless. A couple of weeks ago, after 12...

    The New Atomic TFX

TFX owners are too busy diving and enjoying themselves, they don't have the time to worry about the color of the exhaust diaphragm.

Anyone going to be in Coz week of 10/12 and have any thoughts on the weather?

Port closure late yesterday wiped out hope of a night dive with 3P. Opened this morning wiping out plans for a leisurely breakfast but we had a smooth dive day. Looks closed again later in the day with no traffic seen from Barracuda except for what looked like a small Navy craft bouncing through...

    Backplate for Apeks WTX-D18

My inclination would be to elongate the slots on the backplate to accommodate the wing. I've done this without a lot of drama with a Dremel, electric drill, and a file. I like to attach the plate and wing together with book screws so an additional hole or two might be needed.

Backplate and wing for a new diver?

I initially bought a steel plate, found it too heavy to haul around, and traded it on SB Classifieds for an aluminum plate of equivalent quality with someone going the other way. Don't get hung up on which to buy. You can easily swap it out.
