I find the old style dive watch is invaluable in getting to the dive boat on time.

The ~ 1" Channel in the plate places the tank and can to sit away from your back. The standard backplate is just not a great fit for DH.

I, too, use a d400 as a primary, but I wouldn't choose another d400 for a safe second. I use an Aqualung Legend or a DGX Gears D6.
