How kick /swim / fin backwards

Its actually very simple. Imagine your flutter kick. do you see it? now, do you see that path that your legs traced? Now stop kicking and reverse the direction that your legs are travelling (i.e. if you right leg is moving up, move it down). Just reply for any clarifications. brandon ;)

    got home...

Well, I just got home from a wonderful trip to the Cayman Islands. It was a very nice place, albeit prohibitively expensive (alas, I digress), with excellent coral formations. But upon returning home I opened my bag and came to the conclusion that my gear stunk. I know you know how it is...

Build It and They Will Come?

I can see it now -- gin clear water, exotic tropical fish, no waves or surface swim, no boat fees, and all close to my home! That would be great. Count me in. Just make sure it has an underwater tank filling station. Not that it would be possible or plausible, but the idea of unlimited...

    Ditch the snorkel?

I haven't used my snorkel since my open water checkout dives. I say drop it. In my case it only leads to problems. It causes drag. Everyone has descended on their snorkel (or jumped off the boat with it in). Its another piece of gear to carry around and clean out. On long surface swims, I...

5mm wetsuit - too hot for Caribbean?

This monday I am leaving for grand cayman (water: 80*F). With me will be my scubapro 5mm. I, too, have questioned whether that is too warm, but I decided that I would rather be too warm than too cold. Besides, they can only get too hot on the surface when you're sitting in the sun. brandon

    Decent too fast?

probably not, as long as you equalize enough (remember your mask!). Some tables include the descent in their calculations, other assume an instant descent. If you use a computer you're okay, but if you use tables you are probably going to lose some conservativism (not enough to really make a...

    Requirements to fill tanks?

Budgy, are you saying that you saw a coin operated air fill station? meaning you put in a quarter (or watever, it would be cool if it were a quarter), hook up the tank, and fill it yourself. That would be rather nice. brandon

    Long hose in panic situation?

I breathe a 7' hose. But in crossing over from my lifeguarding skills, I've realized that a 7' and bungeed backup may become a risk in a panic situation. 1st, the seven foot presents a much longer area for a panicing diver to grab on to, and 2nd, if one's bungeed backup is not "breakable" then...

    blood donation

Fred, that was the plan. Since we cancelled the dive, we figured malt liquor would take its place. Ah, the good stuff... So you guys think that dehydration and the bends are a problem? I was leaning more towards carbon dioxide problems (well in my head it makes sense)

    blood donation

this friday my school is having a blood drive. I originally had a dive scheduled for the next day (it has since been rescheduled due to cold weather :( ) Although I think it would be a bad idea, what effects would a blood donation leave to a diver? brandon
