    So......should Paris go to jail?

Very true when it comes to the LA County Jail system. The last two Los Angeles County Sheriffs have been under pressure from the courts to alleviate the chronic overcrowding in the jail facilities. For the males, generally speaking 1 day of good behavior = 4 days of sentencing time. I don't...

    So......should Paris go to jail?

In California, misdemeanor DUI (no injuries resulted, it's not the 4th or more in 7 years) is often pleaded down to reckless driving, especially if the person doesn't have priors. Paris was quite aware of the fact that her license was suspended. She's just making up lame excuses. The form...

Burned out, need some job idea's

If you plan on finishing your degree, do it BEFORE going into law enforcement. Its odd schedules and unpredictable nature make it quite difficult to finish school. Balance that with the fact that many law enforcement agencies, in particular those for the Federal government, have strict age...

    Where is the outrage?

You got that right. Also, I try to avoid the term "drunk" driver. Many people have the false notion that as long as you're not falling down drunk, you're OK to drive. You can be deemed unfit to drive long before you look obviously drunk.

What are your 5 UN-favorite movies

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned "Showgirls" yet. That tends to rank right up there with the worst of the worst.

    Dirtiest water you dove in?

I personally did not do this, but I saw footage of the LAPD Dive Team doing evidence recovery (looking for a gun dumped by a crook) in Ballona Creek. For those not from LA, swimming/diving in that creek is akin to diving/swimming in your toilet. BEFORE flushing, and after you dumped all of...

What are your 5 UN-favorite movies

I caught that movie on broadcast TV one night when I was at home sick. The only reason I watched it was because the remote wasn't within arm's reach and I was feeling too awful to get up from the sofa. I ended up enjoying that movie, especially the supermarket parking lot scene where Kathy...

You never dress like this when WE dive...

Tell me about it. I just saw on late night cable TV a commercial for a diet supplement, in which a morbidly obese woman was wearing a tight, skimpy bikini, with her generous portions of cellulite jiggling like a plate full of jello :barf:

    Windows Vista YIKES!!!

If it's the one I'm thinking of, that wasn't Vista but rather Windows 98. Gates was demonstrating the supposedly plug and play capabilities of the then-new USB technology, resulting in the Blue Screen of Death. I wonder who at Microsoft lost their jobs over that one :11: I used to be a die...

    Windows Vista YIKES!!!

I bought a new Dell XPS last month that had Vista installed. My experiences so far: The Good: 1. The Aero interface. I gotta admit, it looks pretty slick and makes XP look like Windows 3.1 by comparison. Well, maybe Windows ME, but definitely makes Windows 95/98 look like 3.1. 2. I do...

    Cairns 2-day Liveaboard

I used SilverSwift last November. It was OK, nothing stellar. I got a better "wow" factor on TUSA Dive to the same reefs the previous year. I also used its sister ship SilverSonic to Agincourt Reef that same week, again an "OK" but not stellar dive. The boats themselves are pretty nice though.

    Cairns 2-day Liveaboard

I don't know about the others, but Milln and Thetford reefs are part of the "day boat" itinerary, meaning they're about a 2 hour ride each way. No need to book a liveaboard to visit them. The advantage of a liveaboard even for these reefs is that you're likely to get diving + lodging for less...

    When you book a reservation.....

It has less to do with the ability to tell time, and more to do with the desire to cram as many patients in during the day as possible. Just like I think it's fair for the Doc to charge me for being a no-show, I also think it's fair that patients who are made to wait excessively long to be...

    Bill OReilly

They're both equally villains. The ADA who tried to prosecute a case, where none existed, deserves what he gets. The woman who started the ball rolling needs to be prosecuted for making a false police report. And billed for all the wasted investigative time that resulted. However, I...

    GBR recommendations

    1. Both times I've gone in October/November. That's Spring for them, so it's warm but not ridiculously hot. I haven't visited any other time of year so I can't comment otherwise. Crowds seemed pretty reasonable at that time of year. 2. First time I used TUSA Dive and had a good time despite...

How much does your dive gear weigh?

It all depends on the airline, as Im2Bent experienced with Alaska Airlines. Virgin Blue in Australia has very stringent weight limits; 20 kg TOTAL for all your checked baggage, unless you pay full fare :11: However, I was able to save AUS$30 in overweight fees each way because one of my bags...

Day trip from Maui to Big Island

While it's technically possible to go over to the Big Island for a day, you'll be missing an awful lot. There's a reason it's called The Big Island ;) Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is itself pretty much an entire day. Kilauea isn't exactly a "drive thru" volcano; when and where she's...

So, what to do with dozens of LPs ...

You may want to check eBay first. I believe this is in GM's collection, though probably not in the same "mint, sealed" condition: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pink-Floyd-The-Wall-Vinyl-2-LPs-MINT-SEALED_W0QQitemZ130088260570QQcategoryZ306QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    Digital luggage scale

What's wrong with an ordinary bathroom scale? If it's too large to fit, just weigh yourself, note the weight, then check it again when you're holding the particular piece of luggage.

    Friggin no respect

You think that's bad, try having it happen while your car is parked behind a POLICE station!!! It happened to me many years ago. I finish my shift to find someone's stolen the vinyl tonneau cover off my truck  The parking structure in question is open to the public, so anybody had access...
