I'm sure I'm going to start a flame war with this, but I'm gonna say it:
WHAT IS IT WITH WOMEN AND THE TOILET SEAT??
If us guys have to put it up to do our thing, there's no reason why a woman can't put it down to do their thing.
Women nagging men over the position of the toilet seat...
I've never had a problem using American Express in Australia, nor have I ever been charged a higher price to use it. At least that's been my experience along the coast between Cairns and Adelaide, and across to Tasmania.
The overwhelming majority of my AmEx usage was to pay for purchases...
AmEx is about as widely accepted in Australia as it is in the US. A few small businesses might not take it, but large stores definitely will, as will major hotel chains, rental car companies, etc. Also never had a problem with a gasoline station taking it either.
It can also be your worst enemy, if there is a mechanical malfunction and the ATM decides to eat your card. Don't laugh, it happened a couple of months ago to my friend here in LA when he inserted his card from a Hawaii bank into a local ATM, and it decided to keep it. And it was late on a...
The dispatchers at work were watching it, and I couldn't figure out what they were laughing at until I looked over at the TV :11: So not all of us intend to watch it, many of us just happen to be in the right place at the wrong time.
Some tourist areas may take the American dollar at significant loss, however it's a good idea to have some local currency at all times.
At one time it was best to charge as much as you can to take advantage of a better exchange rate and not have to worry about changing any excess local...
I am a frequent renter with Hertz, and they offer a program whereby the phone rental is free with a European car rental...you only pay for actual usage, the price of which varies by country. Last time I did this (2004) it was about $1 per minute in the UK.
Also check with your own mobile...
On my trips to Australia, I've used Virgin Blue when traveling within the country. Although they have a rather skimpy baggage allowance (20 kg TOTAL, which BTW they waive if one of the bags contains "sporting equipment" like scuba gear), I've had nothing but extremely friendly service from them...
While I realize the OP absolutely HATES Wikipedia, this is what they have on Windows XP and ongoing Microsoft support:
The original Wikipedia article does quote actual Microsoft sources for this information.
It makes sense to continue offering support for XP for some time to come...
My particular ThinkPad was an iSeries model, which was IBM's budget line of laptops. I bought it for under a grand at Costco, when the cheapest "real" IBM was over twice that much.
I've read in a couple of places that these were actually made by Acer, and that's why IBM was able to sell them...
$100 is cheap insurance considering you're buying a $17k car. Just because it has "only" 21,000 miles doesn't mean it doesn't already have problems. It could have very well been "unloaded" by its first owner who thought it was a lemon. Warranties are of little consolation when your car spends...
While I do lament the outsourcing of American jobs as a whole, I definitely take pause when I see the words "Made in China" on something.
Looking on the bottom of my Dell Latitude notebook (purchased just last month) I see it's primarily made in Malaysia with some components from the...
It's also a brand now owned by the Chinese, a fact I'm not fully comfortable with.
While my Dell contains Chinese-made parts, at least the company is US based (Round Rock, TX near Austin). And I would much prefer buying Taiwan-made over mainland-China anyday.
It's a shame Big Blue sold out.
I guess you missed the part about "getting it looked at by a mechanic" and "don't rely on CarFax alone" and "look up the various values on kbb.com"
I was pointing out why you bash sedans on their scuba carrying abilities, yet you say the VW Beetle makes a good scuba vehicle even if its trunk is only big enough for ONE person's gear
While Natasha isn't concerned about carrying scuba gear, I do question your logic in this...
Go to kbb.com (the Kelly Blue Book website), enter your zip code, and price out an identically equipped car. Use all three pricing models: Trade In, Private Party, and Retail Used.
You should try to aim for the Private Party price unless they can show you some "added value" such as an...
