    Catalina Scuba Luv

C Fletcher, When are you coming over? Catalina is a great diving experience but you need to dive with other RB divers to get most out of the experience. Phil

Which agency to choose for nitrox class?

At this point in your diving, it does not matter. Whatever is cost and schedule effective. I would argue against the GUE card because it is not universally accepted. The DIR portion of the course is very valuable but if you just looking for Nitrox, it is the wrong path. When you continue...

    HDR-HC9 or HDR-SR12

Look at housing avalibility, it might be the deciding factor. I have a HC-9 with the Gates housing - very happy with the set up. Can's comment on the other. Phil

    Aow=bs

Were going off topic!! There are three main types of people who take AOW. 1) Fresh out of class (OW). These people are smart enough to realize that they need more training than the minimum that PADI gives with OW. Are they advanced? - no, but get more time with the instructor. I belive...

Possible causes of problem I witnessed

Dave, Many people are color blind red/green (me included). I can tell the difference but it is not huge. I'm sure some people can't tell the difference. Rick, The Meg has a flash code. Basicly, green is above 1.0 and red is below 1.0, amber is 1.0. So 1.3 looks like blink, blink, blink...

Possible causes of problem I witnessed

Rick, One other point. On the Meg, you the diver are responsible for performing the set point switchs. Most Meg divers (me included) start at the surface with the system set to 0.7 (can't get above 1.0 at the surface). At the end of the decent (or near the end), the user then selects the new...

    B24 Bomber Lake Washington

Kirby, I dove the B-24 last week (March 5 & 7) with Mel Clark (CCR Mod 3 course). We dove it twice each day. Vis never got better than 6 feet, Temp was 42.5F March 9, we dove the wreck of the Fresno (190') in lake Washington, here the vis was more like 4 feet. The first dive was very cold -...

    Safety stop at 15'..........always

Safety stops vs. deco stops and old timers vs. current teachings. It all comes down to personal risk and what you feel comfortable with. In the old days we were diving on steel 72s and this limited your exposure. Today we dive with steel 100s, 120 & 130 doubles and rebreathers. The exposures...

Wrinkles Dive @ Laguna Beach - Feb 9th

Hi Christian, I will be stopping by for an early dive at Dead Mans Reef at 6:30 AM for anyone who want to join. I dove it today and it was very nice! Vis started out at +20', but then dropped as low as 10' going out to the reef. The front side had vis of 20' and the back side was 30'. Water...

    Deadman's Wrinkles

Robert, I was planning to dive DMR Sat at 6:30AM. My avg dive time at DMR is 70 to 90 min. I don't swim out and drop, I drop and swim out. I can adjust the plan depending on your gas supply. It's one of the best dives around! Phil

In Sydney Jan 26 any recommendations?

Hi Almitywife, Had a great time! The other dives were good too, but I think the first dive with you guys was the best because I was diving with friends! At the end of the day, Yves drove me back to Darling Harbor in his boat - nice day to go by the Opera House and Under the Bridge! Lots of...

VR3 faulty "dive mode" on the surface

Look at the pressure sensor port on the back side. Corosion or salt buildup can cause this problem. I even have seen people put tape over it by mistake.

In Sydney Jan 26 any recommendations?

Almitywife: Just ran the numbers. Assuming I use up most of the tank (11L * 230 = 2530L) on each dive and a 1 hr SI - it does not matter that I do a shallow dive first. Infact, I will dive it on air not nitrox. I just need to be back at the dive shop by 10:15AM. It is nice to plan with...

In Sydney Jan 26 any recommendations?

Almitywife, I won't be bringing the Meg on this trip. This is a very short trip (1 week). I do come over on longer trips and would be willing to bring the Meg on the next trip if your husband want to dive a few days with me. Currently Im just air diluent trained but will be getting Trimix...
