Like most things in life - it depends! Vis, deco, wreck size, and how many times I have been on the wreck ... Bottom line is your own comfort with the existing conditions. Some times on a wreck I'm very comfortable on, I still run a line just for the practice.
I did go thru this for real about three years ago. O2 toxing incident in the last 5 minutes of deco. The three of us were in doubles and had both 50% and 100% O2 bottles. My partner brought the diver to the surface while keeping the regulator in his mouth. Once we were all at he surface, he...
True enough, but lets look at tech diver's habits (my estimates and this product is focused on tech divers):
~50% rebuild their own equipment
~25% sell the equipment after 2 to 3 years before a real service is required and buy new again
~25% will use the official warranty
I was in the first...

MG,
Our OC buddy was using 15/55 trimix (15% O2 & 55% HE). For deco he brought 3 other mixes 35/25, 50% (O2) and 100% O2.
I use 12/55 for my dil. This mix is good from 0 to 270' For bailout, each of us carry 15/55 (80 cuft) and either 50% or 100%. I had 50% on this dive. If a CCR...
Would you consider that since the RB is more stealth than regular scuba, would that enhance your chance of an encounter? No
What types of things do you see down there that most divers don't get a chance to see?
I did not have my scooter on this dive but here is a clip of a 230' dive from...
Some other thinks to consider about the chances of seeing a GW.
1) I'm on a RB, I just need to be back on the boat in 60 min.
2) I bring my Dive-X scooter.
3) Half of my dives are solo. :shocked2:
My normal dive profile at Ship Rock when on a recreational boat is to go west of the rock...
1) Foot pocket, it is much more comfortable. Material is more compliant.
2) Foot pocket is slightly larger than Scubapro Jet XL. Forces load path to be closer to ankle.
3) Spring strap is standard equipment
4) Very easy to get on and off
5) Fin performance is very close to Scubapro Jet XL
He was back today! About 8' long. I was on the Magician boat, first dive of the day at about 9:15AM. On the West side of the rock at 140'. He came swimming by and when the distance got to about 30', I shined my light at him, he swam away at a very fast speed. This was my first encounter!
Scubasaint,
Avg. depth is 50' Most recreational boat go to places where you can stay at 30' or adventure to 100'
No nitrox on the Great Escape. If you want nitrox try the Magician or the Pacific Star. All are good boats.
This is SoCal, none of the boats provide guides. Post when you are...
My $0.02
Many divers are not comfortable in the water after finishing OW. I look at this as a continuation of OW. The new diver is smart enough to know he need a little more time under the instructors wing. He may not be advanced, but in the end, he will be a better diver.
bowtieman427,
Having a analog SPG is a good thing, it will always work! When diving single tanks, I look at it every 5 min. Having the dive computer on your wrist is also a good thing. I normally look at depth every 2 to 3 min during the dive and every 30 sec on the safety stops. As you can...
I'm another one using welding grade O2 on my RB. Never had a problem. I have oxyhacker's book - very good. And remember, if you ever need to weld, you can do that too!
