    Crossing Agencies

Nah, the PADI e-learning is garbage, the one from RAID actually was working when I tried it, and that was a year before I used PADI e-learning. You're missing many things and already approaching on a wrong idea, so it's useless to try and present this to you... Just go and ask them the...

Why the hate for weights on AL80s?

The tanks are already pretty much the heaviest tanks out there and you make it even worse. It snags on everything it can. It makes it harder to move the tanks forward. And all that while bringing no benefits, yeah I can understand why we recommend against them.

    Crossing Agencies

That's historical though, they do OW stuff just like the others. They encourage different practices, but I've never actually seen it in action. I was given access to OW and nitrox course if I remember correctly a few years back, and it was quite decent, but it was only the e-learning so I can't...

Why do people kick like this?

I can hardly get in that position though, I'd be kicking all the water towards the bottom, which defeats the purpose...

Why do people kick like this?

Doesn't that kick have both feet "facing" the same direction? @guruboy But here they actually have both feet facing each other somehow. And I can't understand how the human anatomy allows for this, it is very hard for me to try and get my feet in such a position, let alone trying to apply...

Why do people kick like this?

Well not like that, if you do it like that you're effectively orienting the water to the bottom, ie silting up the place. I thought it was a frog kick too, but how can you mess up so badly that your ankles turn inwards instead of outwards?

Why do people kick like this?

Does anyone know what, how and why people would kick like this? at 7:40 I see it regularly, but I seriously can't understand what they're trying to do.

"Divers must be a minimum of 10 years of age, in good health and must be previously certified as a NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent." (bold by me) From Advanced Scuba Diver | NAUI Worldwide. Dive Safety Through Education So it should be quite safe to say that yes it's not a problem. You can...

24 Hour Dive at 65 fsw with Just 6 Hours of Deco

Some more info on how they did the 24h dive in 2014 here But again, I'm not sure if that is indeed the dive at hand here :(. Posts from pépé_O2 are the ones with the info.

24 Hour Dive at 65 fsw with Just 6 Hours of Deco

Hmm on reading more, it seems possible that they did another expedition later which focused more on the sharks (gombessa 2 is called "le mystere merou", which translates to "the grouper mistery"). For those that have a subscription to natgeo, it's here Look Inside a Frenzy of Hungry Sharks and...

24 Hour Dive at 65 fsw with Just 6 Hours of Deco

If I'm not mistaken, this is Gombessa 2 If I remember correctly, he was given a second one just so they could get his rebreather up and swap sorb and tanks. Don't remember exactly, haven't had time to run through the whole thread or watch the video again (it's a bit of a long movie) The (a?)...

    Göteborg?

Thanks for the links! I had found some of those, I'll see if google can get me through the others. It does say "We are a happy goat diver who likes to go out and dive together" on one, so I take it it's not spot on, or maybe goats are actually diving in Sweden, I don't know yet :p

Does diaphragm first stage free flow when it fails?

If I remember correctly, the US navy sent 2 divers on a suicide mission, and then blamed the regs (Apeks) when they died instead of manning up. They eventually blamed the operator too, but yeah. Details surrounding death of USN divers +1 year ago finally released under FOIA So the fact a reg is...

    Göteborg?

Hey all, Looks like I'll be moving to Göteborg for a while. I know there's water there, so there's diving. I also know Sweden has a few mines for diving, which I'd like to discover eventually (not immediately, as I've been out of the water for close to a year now). I have some experience with...

    narrow my options

I've been lurking on ccr for a long time (but it keeps getting canceled because I want a roughly stable situation before I commit to it), so I don't have much experience with it, just a lot of reading, but you could have a look at the kiss sidekick. There was an instructor in Southern Australia...

    The changing Scuba Industry

It seems I'm somehow not having notifications for this thread anymore... Can't really blame people for not wanting to be the only younger person on a boat though (one of the reasons I often dive without a club/shop). Much like it is understandable that some women don't want to join because...

    Course frustration

Can't be more messed up than France. Latest fads is the "official agency" trying to enforce CE markings. Basically if you buy a reg, you're not allowed to add anything to it that is not approved, leading to results such as: - you can't add an SPG to a reg set because the official set from the...

    Course frustration

They don't. They just provide: 1) An easy way to find someone 2) A guarantee that what the person teaches is "safe" If you happen to find a dive buddy that is happy to teach you for free, that's a different story, but I would say it takes a bit more than "tips and tricks" to properly use and...

    Course frustration

*** I will assume everybody is competent *** Let's take the following situations... - One takes a 2 days AOW course through agency X (is it 2 days?), followed by a 1 day drysuit and 2 days photography specialty. He walks off with 3 cards - One takes a 2 days AOW course through agency Y and gets...
