    Diving and climbing

I've seen this up close and personal in diving. And it was my instructor that was pushing way to fast. I had just started diving - did my OW through SDI / TDI through a company in Alberta that really marketed itself as the serious diver's shop. They did a lot of Tec stuff, deep water stuff...

Difference between PADI AOW and deep diver

I just finished my AOW through PADI - but I have actually done a number of specialities through TDI SDI - including the Deep Speciality. The biggest difference was that with the AOW adventure dive, we didn't go down as deep. It was limited to theory, a deeper dive than you'd see in OW, and the...

what do YOU do with your car keys?

I'm sure this has already been mentioned - but I'm actually currently in the process of getting a new key cut that will open the door to my Jeep, and the glove box. But won't come with the chips required to start the ignition. The key is just metal, and will be fine underwater in my wetsuit (I...

Has anyone tried getting a prescription scuba mask (for vision)?

I wear a prescription mask - and have for 10 years. It's amazing - and a heck of a lot better than contacts, where, originally, a flooded mask meant a risk of a lost contact. For both of the masks I've used, I've just gone through my local dive shop - they have the required lenses for my...

    Aquatek Scuba. Edmonton

Hmmnnn well, I don't think it was (or I hope it wasn't) quite that obvious. And I don't consider myself to be a bad judge of character. Or naive. But who knows. Maybe I was back in '08 when I first signed up... I trained almost exclusively with him and his group - and I think I've turned...

    Aquatek Scuba. Edmonton

Yes. Exactly. You're entirely right. There have been a ton of great dive shops that I've worked with over the years - none in Alberta (though I am scouting out some new shops), but plenty in BC and California. Great people doing wonderful work to keep this hobby fun, safe and interesting.

    Aquatek Scuba. Edmonton

Man, you know I registered here just to vent about this. I did all my training through that shop - starting in 2008 with my open water cert. Knew the guy pretty well. Spent quite a bit of money there. Volunteered with him at shows. Took part in his clubs and movie nights. Went to the pool...
