    Diving Morehead City in October

Yeah - if I am by myself and not travelling with buddies I will sometimes drive down on a Friday night, arrive around midnight and sleep in the truck as well, works for me! :D I have tried every weather app, tracked every marine buoy, etc. and I haven't yet been able to lock down a prediction...

    Diving Morehead City in October

Might have gone up this year, I haven't stayed there this year, or I could just be misremembering. Could have sworn I last paid $25. Just checked their website and it does in fact say $35.

    Diving Morehead City in October

Weather this coming weekend ended up being exceptionally bad, so they cancelled us this past Tuesday for this Fri/Sat/Sun - thats the furthest out notice I have ever received in NC. Usually they call it the night before, I have received a phone call when diving out of Wilmington area while on...

    Diving Morehead City in October

Both are good operations. I prefer Olympus, mainly because of their boat size, but would dive with either any day. The tricky thing with NC is the weather, we were supposed to be in Morehead City today and all weekend diving and it was blown out. So you never know. There are 6 pack boats...

Question on 7mm wetsuit...vs dry suit

My 7mm has collected dust since I got my trilam drysuit. I have much more mobility in the drysuit than the 7 mm. I'll still occasionally wear a 3 mm wetsuit in NC, but drysuit without heavy (or any undergarments) is super comfortable.

    Attaching a Name Patch

My NEW made-to-measure drysuit came with the wrong name on the inside... The manufacturer mixed up mine and someone elses, so size/options are all mine, but came with name THOMAS. Somewhere out there someone has one that won't fit me but has my name inside...

    Suggested CCR Reading

I've read the Heinerth book, felt it was dated (only in description of current market offerings in CCR) and also looking for something a little more in-depth. That book is good for someone who has only just heard of rebreathers, if you've already done some reading/observing/talking to buddies...

Following along as I was about to post an identical thread, see CCR down the road some and want to start learning what I can now.

    Help with dry-suit purchase

Custom made I don't think there's another option for the money. I don't own a Seaskin but have seen several in person and am sometimes surprised at how quality they seem for what they cost. They're good suits, but a killer deal at the price they're at for a MTM suit.

    BlackTip Batteries

I started with the Waitley 9 Ah, now I have the DeWalt 9 Ah. I am VERY happy with the DeWalt 9s, I was able to run the Waitleys down to completely dead in a day of diving, the DeWalts I have only been able to get to 1/2 battery showing on the LED meter. I will eventually buy a second set of...

Which dry glove system is 'best'

Yes, as long as you can get your hand through with a liner on it should be fine. I sized mine as 80 mm using the official Kubi sizing cutout (available online, print to scale) and they were a similar fit, hand rubbed slightly but was able to get it on no problem. The actual 80 mm rings on my...

Which dry glove system is 'best'

I have the Kubi system, and have never had another system so nothing to compare it to. But if I were to buy again I would still get the Kubi system, I have had zero issues with it and I can't so far imagine anything I would want to improve on the platform. I have small hands and the ability to...

Otter Britannic Superskin vs MK2 Telescopic

I was told it’s the successor to the MK2. Not sure if MK2 will ever be dropped or if the Atlantic is just the “next generation”. The big difference in the cuts of the suit from MK2 to Atlantic is the one piece seamless panel from hip to underarm to wrist to make reaching valves easier.

Otter Britannic Superskin vs MK2 Telescopic

Otter now makes the Atlantic, which is supposed to eventually be the successor to the Britannic. Telescoping torso is standard. It comes in two versions - the Atlantic, which is an ultralight "rip-stop" material, or the Atlantic HD, which uses the same material the Britannic was known for. I...

    Review Seaskin Nova drysuit

I have the SI-tech "high profile" valve. I put it in quotes because it really isn't that high profile at all. And honestly when in dry gloves and reaching for it blind its the right size for grabbing on to, I don't think I would want it smaller. I have neoprene socks on my suit, I prefer...
