Great point, there would've been a navy base for sure. The U.S. may have closed it after Texas joined the Union, since they had others in the region, but the damage may have been done.
That's how I wear my hood. My wife wears it over, so she has to adjust her slap strap frequently plus the skirt can have the hood under it (makes no sense to me).
Also, one of my instructors likes to do mask remove and replace during every 3-minute safety stop as practice. If your buoyancy's good during your safety stop, you may want to do that, too. You might want to tell your buddy, before the dive, to make sure you don't float up while doing it.
I've been diving since 1992, and the only lost masks I've seen were dropped while doing floating surface intervals - but it's possible. It's very rare, but an inadvertent kick or other minor collision can knock off your mask or a strap could break. You should always have a buddy close at hand...
That's a nightmare scenario, the capitol (which I can see from my windows here at work) being in Brownwood or worse Lubuttocks.
I worked at Astroworld and knew what the Six Flags were
Edit: I love that map of Mexico, hadn't seen it before.
I was hoping you'd mention that, too. In the book you noted the British complaining about it, but I guess there's no evidence they actually meddled in the affair?
Sometimes I'm glad they forfeited the extra land. Can you imagine the state shape on license plates if they didn't? Plus, we...
You don't need luck for this relaxed pastime, but I wish it for you all the same. Remember that you maximize fun by maximizing air, and you maximize air by just relaxing and enjoying it.
That's good to know. Fortunately, we booked our March trip already. We were told that Spring Break (only time my wife can get off work) isn't that bad on Coz, like it is in Cancun. Is that true?
I read your yellow and history books while traveling for work this week, so the first thing I noticed on that map was them saying Cozumel is Mayan for Island of Swallows. The Republic of Texas annexation attempts blew me away. Do you think that would've been a good or terrible thing?
It is on the southeast corner, but Franko's shows the park wrapping around the southern end of the island. I hope that's correct, so 3 of my 4 Coz dives were in the park :)

I had 19 years between my OW and AOW but my wife went almost immediately. Being a DM for both classes, the majority of student responses is they're glad they did it quickly or wish they had. There are some who prefer the other way, so as with anything it's more a personal preference than...
Richard,
Thank you for the feedback. The two east-side dives we did were good. There wasn't the rock formations like on the west, more like large mounds of coral with sand between the mounds. Now I really wish I'd taken my camera. If the west side was a 10 (and I believe it was), then the...
Clownfish are damselfish, and the bicolor damselfish mentioned and in the video is also. Maybe they are also immune (or can ignore) the stings?
Edit: I've only seen clownfish in Okinawa.
