I always heard that the captain (master) of the vessel is responsible for EVERYTHING and EVERYONE aboard the boat...but does that extend to someone who is a diver and personally goes into harms way by leaving the safety of the boat?

Lauderdale by the Sea (Just north of Ft. Lauderdale on A1A.....go a couple hundred feet south of the pier and about 500 feet out. You will see a beautiful reef with a lot of life around it. Also, the area is really cool. Lots of apres dive to do.
Also, pick up one of the local Vacation...
Just keep doing it. Your fear is probably of going too deep, losing control and drowning. That sucks for everyone. We've all been there.
You have to explain to yourself that water over your head is the same whether it is 6 feet or 600 feet. There really is no difference for a diver equipped...
Have always used a purge mask and I love it. no looking up and getting all goofy-looking. All I do is exhale through the nose once in a while and all the water is gone...poof...presto.
Used a non-purge mask for one dive and it sucked.
I guess it's a personal matter....but I persoanlly prefer...

Been a certified diver since '97...but had to get out of it due to children. Now...my daughter will be doing her confined on Saturday...with the certification dives in March in Southern Florida....Either Ft. Lauderdale or the upper Keys (probably Key Largo area).
I can't wait!!!!
