    Fins suggestion

Does she need a reason to like pink and want pink fins? Personally, I love my camo blue JetFins. The go perfectly with my blue santi... and blue smurf gloves and Blue Hs on my wing... Oh... and on a boat with all techie guys... getting someone to get me my fins... the BLUE ones... is always easy!

Question What is the DIR method when it comes to deploying an SMB?

Gotta love GUE. Surprise... SOPv 3.0 Has a protocol... who would have thought (thunk?) Page 14 SMB Deployment If the diver is on a CCR, the procedure is preceded by the diver going off loop and to their OC regulator. And back on loop after SMB is deployed.

    Fins suggestion

Are you diving drysuit or wet suit? Your profile mentions London... Personally I'd go for any JetFinstyle if your are doing the coldwater drysuit route.

Question Help me get over my fear of soft sided luggage for air travel

Never had an issue using soft sided bags. Plate in the bottom. Fins on the sides. A bit of clothes. Regs in the middle. More clothes and wing on top. Drysuit in carry on (just because I'm MTM and can't easily rent a suit) with lights, camera gear and computers. Anything I can easily rent at...

    GUE Fundamentals

He will still learn the moves "as if the light was corded". It is a part of the gas sharing exercises.

    GUE Fundamentals

No. It is not. But you need someting to attach your longhose to, and you need a suitable primary light with a proper goodmanhandle. Talk to your instructor. Ask them if your light is acceptable for the class, or, if it is not, if the instructor has one you can borrow/rent.

    GUE Fundamentals

See Appendix A Standards - Appendix A & B The primary light should consist of a rechargeable battery pack and be fitted with a Goodman-style light handle. When burn time requirements create the need for an external battery pack, it should reside in a canister mounted on the diver’s right hip.

Recommended O-ring to hold deco SPG in place?

I use Apeks and in the apeks service kits there are always a gazillion orings to cover for different models. The biggest leftovers works charmingly for this purpose. I normally use 2 intertangled, so if one breaks, I wont loseit and loose the function, or even more important, it will come with...

Diving while on a cruise to Norway

Love that you had a nice time in Norway. A tip for next time, clubs/members DO dive with visitors, you just need to bring your own gear. I don't know if you made that clear when you contacted them. Also... I am not sure where Kristensand is. AFAIK there is no such place. There is Kristiansand...

    Vest-style BCD better for buoyancy???

Why would I want to try a crotchstrap on a bcd not made for a crotch strap? Because the bcd I had did not have the option to add a crotch strap. Because I did not like the fit/form of the bcd. Because I had friends that let me try their BPW which I immediately liked. Because of the crotchstrap...

    Dry suit dump valve leak

Do you dive with a slight squeeze in your suit? And what brand/type valve is it?

    Vest-style BCD better for buoyancy???

To add a different perspective. As a classic A shape female, the traditional Jacket BCD/Backinflate with a cummerbund had me LOWER in the water when floating vertical on the surface than I do with a BP/W. The JacketBCD would without fail, ride up under my arms. No matter how hard I tried to...

Ascent rates - normoxic Trimix on OC

What you want to achieve is to get to your first decompression stop as expediently as possible to start offgassing and avoid ongassing of slower tissues during the ascent. GUE operates with standard ascent rate of 9m/min up to first stop, while adjusting ascent speed to team control, and...

    CE Requirement in Europe

If you buy the CE approved JJ, the JJ in its original form has a CE stamp. It will then come with the M26 threads and all the pescy bits that make it CE approved. I have not had issues diving a GUEmodified JJ in French Caves. (And mine doesn't even have the M26 valves... ) (And NO, Finland is...

    Heating Systems with external battery

Have been using a Santi vest for about 10 years. (I got one that just wont die... even after a lot of trips in the washing machine). It is paired with a self made EO batterypack made from an old Salvo cannister. The vest does have insulating properties even when off. At the moment I am using...

    Question NAUTEC APEX Manifold

Can't say anything about the valves, but you said you were looking for long 12 300 bar tanks. I would HIGHLY recommend against this. 300Bar 12s are insanely negative. Doubles would be a really bad idea. (and I live in cold water drysuit Norway!) If you live in Dubai as your profile suggests...

    When to donate air?

Also keep in mind that donating early, when everybody have low stress, clear minds and rational thought are risk minimizing behaviour. Donating early will also keep the low on gas diver in control of their own buoyancy. Having enough gas left for a possible separation and eventual establishment...

Info Impact of a drysuit flood

Having tried this in a real T2 dive, al be it, just the flooded drysuit, I can say that a 40lb wing will float a winterdressed/leaded diver with steel D12s, 3 stages and a drysuit full of water. The challenge; 4c water… The real challenge… getting into the boat with water up to you nipples in...

DIR- GUE Progression of classes - Tech / Cave

Then dive with ccr buddies. Just requires a bit of thought regarding gas planning. T1 mixed team shouldn't be a big problem.

DIR- GUE Progression of classes - Tech / Cave

actually.... the T1 diving in Norway is quite nice as well... And for the most part of the country... a lot more accessible than the caves/mines.
