I've decided to go Tech, my Intro to Tech experience

I am just a bit curious. If you went through the route of GUE Fundies, why not just do Tech 1 and be Normoxic certified in one class?

    Advice on possible DCI hit

Food for thought: When exhaling AND inhaling, your airways are open. So even though you inhaled while ascending, your airways were obviously open and it would be quite challenging to increase pressure in the lungs to harmful levels. If you were inhaling, you were creating an negative pressure...

    A couple doubles questions

Putting on a couple thin merino wool undershirts (Ie offset tops to bottoms) can also help with the top heaviness. Other tips are b*ttcheeks tightly squeezed. Shoulderblades raised and centered to lift arms. (This you can train on your floor at home. Lay on your stomach, lift you legs as if in...

    Buoyancy issues after ~75 minutes

What tanks were you using, and what was the pressure on your tanks? If Double Aluminiums, they tend to be bottom light when passing 100Bars. (IE, a bit less than half left) It is an oddly distinct, "oh, we're at half gas" moment where balance shifts.

    Drysuit Specialty course tips?

Haven't read all answers, but two things come to mind: The biggest reason for using the BCD for what it is, a buoyancy compensator is that if something goes wrong (in worst case an out of air situation), and you have only used the suit for buoyancy, a head first ascent will lead you in a fast...

Lessons Mask strap broke during a dive

Actually... absolutely NOT. Velcro is useless in this setting. It is not adjustable on the fly as the "buckle-thing" you see in the link, and it will ruin hoods or hair. So... No... I was looking for the maskstrapbucklethingword... Still looking... :D

Question Any one have a properly fitted mask in the store that leaks when in the water?

Hold your mask softly to your face. Dont inhale. Gently slide it sideway so one side is flush with your temple. If there is a gap on the other side, the mask is too wide and you will get leaks around the eyes. Too tight maskstrap can exascerbate this.

Drysuit or wetsuit for 11/12 year olds in UK

If you want to delay a drysuit, try to find a good 7 or 9mm freedivers suit. Softer neoprene and significantly warmer. The neoprene wont stand up AS long as a made for scuba wetsuit, but the extra warmth is important for the kids.

Usually people are taught "Exhale, empty bcd, decend" without being told that order is important! 1. INHALE - Hold your breath (Yes, you are on the surface, completely safe) 2. Empty drysuit while holding your breath 3. Empty BCD while holding your breath (You will still be floating... )...

    Question Freediving according to scubadiving

The evidence comes from bubblestudies. We KNOW there are micro/notsomicrobubbles in the blood when scuba. They may not be big enough to cause serious DCS with "Normal diving behaviour", the issue specifically with freediving after scuba is the shrinking of bubbles that then pass into the...

    Fins suggestion

Not as bad as it sounded though. We are a close knit group. Usually dive 2 3man teams doing CCR2 dives off a rib. 1 team dives. The other drives the boat, dresses the divers and acts as safety. So, I get my stages and fins "dressed" on me, and I will drive the boat or dress the other guys the...
