This is a silly question but here goes anyways

attached to d-rings on a weightbelt...thats how all the cool kids are doing it now...

    Breaking 200 Ft.....

I think it´s cool! Who really cares why they do it(except if you know them), just admire the accomplishment and move on?! I whish I could freedive to 200ft, I just admire the grace of the freedivers I see, like a sharp knife cutting thru the water...

    V-Planner

Like blackwood said...1 license key/installation so for a new computer, you need the new code...I think you get something like 3 keys/registration though I´m not sure as I´ve never needed all of them...

    "not a good enough reason"

I don´t get it either... Whatever floats your boat... You choose your level of risk, as long as you are aware and it doesen´t harm the enviroment or other "innocent" divers, do what you want...

Sharing air to maximize bottom time.

I was being deliberately vague...turn pressure depends on the dive...but it basically means the pressure at which you start your ascent (either directly, by heading towards the up-line or exiting a wreck etc)...a point that may need clarifying would be to not move further away from the point at...

Sharing air to maximize bottom time.

My regular buddy uses more gas than me so when he starts getting close to our turnpressure for the dive, he´ll hang on my longhose until I get close to mine... I´ve had DMs and other people object to this practice using some of the, IMO, silly objections seen in this thread... It won´t...

ethics of taking divers beyond their training depth...

I wouldn´t dive with anyone significantly below the depth they are qualified to dive. Being qualified isn´t just about cards or courses but experience of similar dives as well. I also follow the "not more than 40ft deeper than recent experience"-rule from 120ft and below, depending on the...

Is this backplate acceptable for Hogarthian Diving?

Mine is machined by a fellow diver and I use regular weightbelt-material for the harness... I´ve found that only having tri-glides at the shoulders allow for instant adjustment of harness length but that the stiffness of the webbing prevents it from slipping when you don´t want it to... Most...

    Solo vs. Buddy perspective

I wouldn´t BUDDY with someone like that. I would solo "with" someone like that (he won´t be part of my "universe" unless he silts or somthn). It may just be a way to make it cristal clear that you´re both engaging on a solo-dive...

Is this backplate acceptable for Hogarthian Diving?

If you don´t use(or don´t need to use) the extra d-rings the rig isn´t "as streamlined as possible". You mentioned adjustability. I have a one-piece harness, when I switch to a wetsuit I just pull at the waist belt to "tighten it" or loosen it when I go back, no need for tri-glides or...

Is It me Or has SB Gotten very Segregated?

Seems to me that a lot of RB-guys are quite vocal even uw:shakehead:;)

    Cardio questions

Another good thing about swimming is that it´s very low-impact and engages a lot of muscles. You can also use things like fins and paddles to increase the resistance...or just try a few laps of butterfly ;)

    Valve Drill Logistics

What I meant was that if you plan your dive on thirds, you´d better be able to get out on 1/3, even with a buddy hanging on your longhose (because (s)he´ll be using your other 1/3)...

    Valve Drill Logistics

I haven´t dived for 2 months so I reserve the right to be picky ;) What I´m saying is that if I plan a dive on thirds, I had better be prepared to exit on 1/3, otherwise I need a new plan. If having only 1/3 or a valve-failiure is enough to cause increased breathing rate and anxiety, I have...

    Valve Drill Logistics

    1) I ONLY close the isolator first in the "unknown case"...this is the "worst case" and hence why it is the one practiced in the valve-drill...If I know (or believe I know) it´s the right post I will (and have) closed that first. In the unknown case I don´t always guess right, I choose the...

    Valve Drill Logistics

By saving half their gas, the third you need to get out? Whatever post you try to close afterwards will tell you that there´s a problem with the backup. If you try to close the right post first and go to your backup and start sucking water...you´ll notice...If you close the left post the...

    Valve Drill Logistics

But that´s the thing...the 2nd stage was bubble-less (the hose completely disconnected from the 2nd stage)...the hose was flapping aroung turning his world into a jacuzzi and since it was his backup he was pretty confused about were the bubbles were coming from...the look on his face as one...

    Valve Drill Logistics

About unidentified leaks uw: I´ve seen a ds inflator hose unscrew enough to bubble significantly, the diver couldn´t locate it... Another had a 2nd stage unscrew from the hose, resulting in a bubblebath (on a single-rig)... Both on a 1-week liveaboard...I just don´t think "unknown failiures" are...

    Valve Drill Logistics

To me it seems strange that people want to separate "the drill" from "response to bubbling"... You can but to me it seems a waste not to "use" the drill to also build the muscle-memory of "response to bubbling"... I have been taught by three different instructors (during OH-enviroment courses)...
