Which DAN Europe plan are you using?

Master... For the gear, invalidity and medical specialist coverage... I have a friend who took an undeserved hit 6months ago and who still has a ways to go to recovery (and may not fully recover) and I dive RB...

    How do you do it?

    Care to elaborate?

    How do you do it?

I think you need to find some form of exercise that makes you want to get out there and do it...there´s a guy who´s written a lot about flow, that really put into words what I feel when I have a great work out: Mihály CsÃ*kszentmihályi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Reading up on it might...

Spin Off: Do you refuse to dive with a DM/quide in a new location?

I´ll do the first dive "by the book", then I´ll quietly ask to do it my way (whatever that happens to be that day), it´s worked so far...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

Fair enough...anything that gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling is good...and if you´re just going to drop one extra ndm, then the cost is minimal...I might settle for just ok´ing the change but...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

I get that but... -If you mark all directional changes with your own ndms/dms(as appropriate), then it doesen´t matter if arrows are pointing backwards, forwards or sideways, until you see your marker you keep going...IMO anyone who starts second-guessing themselves on an exit is "broken" and...

I´ve seen that in IANTD materials...it works for me too...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

If you´re going to have an argument each time you encounter an unknown cookie in a cave, you´re going to have a lot of them? TBH that sounds about as bright as the "drop bottles idea"(because you can never control what happens in the cave before or after your team passes), but ymmv ... I only...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

This sums up my view as well...I´ll even take the risk of some suboptimal behaviour (like not being able to hold stops) that does effect me (I´ll have to hang longer to pad their deco) because I don´t think it likely (but may be wrong) and don´t mind that much...for one dive... Yes...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

I think that´s what he was saying as well... what I am saying is: I don´t much care if you run your reel right or lefthanded, if you help take up slack when I´m reeling in, how you inflate your smb, if you place a cookie at jumps/intersections, if you isolate 1st or not etc etc... If we are...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

-Light failiures? Weakest link in the middle (if 3 man team), otherwise in front... -Adjusting deco? The "common" failiures are known and planned for, the uncommon ones? You´ll just have to improvise won´t you? -Brainfarts? Well, those can happen to anyone, regardless of training, you deal as...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

I don´t think so... You agree that you´re doing the dive together (eg not solo), you confirm that signals mean the same thing to both (and basic procedures), you agree to a plan(including deco) and "turn-arounds"...what else is there? Granted, I´ve never had a true emergency with an...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

That´s what I don´t get either...I´m a travelling diver, I do techdives around the world and sometimes I don´t manage to bring a buddy with me...perhaps dir-divers don´t do those kinds of trips but for me, not doing a dive because you couldn´t be bothered to spend an extra 5 or 10 minutes...

    JDeco on Blackberry

I don´t have a blackberry but have been using JDeco for about a year now (time really does go by fast)...I just love the convienience of it, instead of taking a laptop on dive-trips I just use my mobile phone...the VPM algo is pretty close to v-planner (propably just a difference in my settings)...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

So...to the OP:Nereas wouldn´t use (all) the standard mixes nor dive in a "team"... What about the rest of you guys?

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

So what? I´ve pretty seemlessly integrated with teams in Florida, Mexico, Malta, the Red Sea and the Phillipines...Only a few of those people have been DIR and the vast majority haven´t...the difference is that my pool of potential buddies who I´ll accept as similarily equipped and trained is...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

If GUE is only one of the certifying agencies that teaches the dir-system, then what are the other ones? It seems that everyone who claims to be DIR but wasn´t trained by GUE or an ex-gue instructor is met with suspicion in the DIR-forum...If I were to say I took a dir-padi course in there I...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

"almost" and "soon" isn´t the same thing as "there is"...at least not in my world...so DIR isn´t "cradle to grave" either...its just a "We are Here and Now" type system...

Near-DIR diving: Are there DIR things you would probably never do?

I´m not sure what it would be either... I do believe that you should be able to run a line with either hand (and that starting with one and learning the other later is one way to get there), that bottles on the right don´t interfere with LH-deployment and that a few of the other arguments that...
