    Halcyon reel resistance

I had this same thing happen to me with a 200' and 400' light monkey reel. I called Light Monkey and they said it would cost me $80 to replace the spool on my 400' reel even though it was less than a year old. They said the same thing, that the line had been wound too tightly on the reel. I was...

    Average Depth on Graph

Yes in Shearwater Cloud. I like how you can pull up data for any point in the dive by holding the mouse over the graph. I thought that average depth would be another useful piece of information to display.

    Average Depth on Graph

Is it possible to add a feature to the graph to show the average depth at any point in the dive, the same way you can see the depth / SAC / deco requirements at any point in the dive? I am wanting to record the average depth for caves I have dived, the problem is after completing deco, it skews...

Inexpensive Primary Light for Rec Diving

DGX 600 and DGX 800 are both solid lights. I've used them for years with no issues.

    TDI Advanced Wreck

I am definitely interested if you would be running a class down in Largo!

    TDI Advanced Wreck

Advanced Wreck has been on my wish list for a while. But I went the Cave route first and got bitten by the bug! I still want to do Advanced Wrech though. I had asked Jim Wyatt about his classes a few years ago but he said he was up in cave country most of the the time now. Last time I looked...

    TDI Advanced Wreck

Well that's frustrating to know, but at least you saved me from spending money on it!! Are you thinking about taking the Advanced Wreck class?

    TDI Advanced Wreck

Is it not that good? I was planning on buying it myself as a reference book. I was hoping it was like the Cavern and Cave textbooks they produced.

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

Thanks, I would really appreciate it! I agree, on paper, it would seem like a big improvement. I just want to know if I am paying $550 I will really feel the benefit. Otherwise, like @tbone1004 said, it might be worth just staying with my current setup and saving up for a cannister light for...

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

Did you notice a big difference in light output between the DGX 800 and your LX20+?

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

Thank you for all the information, that is really useful, and the progression you did from the LX20+ to a cannister light makes a lot of sense. I am just a baby Full Cave Diver, so I think a cannister light is a little way down the list for me after a new dry suit, gas analyzer, stage regs...

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

This is my DGX 800 mounted in a hard Goodman handle setup. I used the clip from DGX and a generic handle. I just had to buy different screws with a flatter head. The two issues were it getting knocked out of the clip when I hit it against the rocks (happened once on each dive). The other...

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

It's funny you say this, because I have thought the same thing since I first bought a DGX 800. I know they are looked at more as a backup, but to me they seem super bright, and I am very happy with how much they light up the cave. A couple of problems I have had are the length makes it a little...

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

Agreed on needing punch. I did my first post Full Cave dives the other day, using a DGX 800 as my primary, and it was just lost inside the beam of my buddy's Big Blue 3800. Multiple times he couldn't see me signalling because mine wasn't strong enough. It was plenty bright enough for me to see...

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

Thanks for that comparison, that was super helpful. My instructor made fun of me during training, but like I said I have happily used a DGX 600 for the last year (Intro dives & Full Cave class). It seemed super bright to me (except against my buddies lights!) It is interesting how we get used...

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

@boriss thanks for the link to the other thread with the pictures. I wonder if the LX20+ will fit in the DGX soft hand mount like the CX2 does? I used a DGX 600 in their soft hand mount and loved it. I tried a DGX 800 in the same setup but it was too long and kept hitting my wrist when I flexed...

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

Thanks for the feedback and review. I must have read a dozen threads on the light and they all seem to be solid. I think my only concern was how it felt on the hand as I have not used a light that big before in a hand mount. I remember you said you had the DGX 800 light. Do you notice a...

    Favorite Handheld Light Under ~$600

Did you ever take pictures of your LX20+ against your DGX 800s? I am in the same position you were trying to decide on my first serious primary light, having used DGX 600 and 800s up to this point. They did me well for my Cave training but I am very aware I now need something brighter for a...
