I'd advise you not to buy used. As a PADI pro you are required to have a CURRENT edition. If you buy used, there's the potential of updates that you will have missed.

I give blood every 8 weeks and have given it the day before and the day after with no ill effects. As always with giving blood (and diving), drinking plenty of fluids is the key.
