CCV has 4 boat dives per day. A morning site then a drop off dive at Neuman Wall/Prince Albert, then an afternoon dive with a drop off at CoCo View/Prince Albert. Plus 24 hour shore diving and one night boat dive during the week (for an additional charge). I thought FI advertised as having 3...
Redondo pretty much sucked today. Our first dive viz varied from 1-3 feet down to about 40' then opened up to about 10 feet at best. By the time we did our second dive it was even worse (Jackie actually ran into the concrete tube before seeing it). Only went to 60' but it didn't improve at...
Where are these sightings happening? There are other sharks in our waters but aren't usually spotted b divers because they are deeper or further out than we dive.
Temperature changes, of course, effect a whole lot of things. But 61 degrees at what depth?
Bob,
See if Jim Ernst is going to be around (PM him & tell him I recommended him). He is really fun to dive with. He was up here last Thanksgiving and Kirsten, Colleen, Leigh, & I did a couple of dives with him. He would really enjoy diving with you, I think.
I know an instructor who warns all of her students that she will not certify anyone who touches any marine life. She of course goes into a good explanation of "why not touch". If more instructors followed this guideline we'd have a much higher percentage of new divers who know better and who...
I used my little otter box for probably well over 150 dives, most between 60-100' and never had a problem. I still use it occasionally but changed vehicles and now have a very good "secret" place to stash my key so don't use it as often. Perhaps mine was the exception because others posting...
I dove with a guy that made piggy noises. It was funny at first but the more he did it the more I came to appreciate it. I could always hear him and I always knew it was him when there were other divers around.
Your best bet would be to go to Hood Canal or Puget Sound. The diving's better and the drive is only slightly longer than diving the Oregon coast. Water temps are 50-54 depending on site and depth right now. We're into summer diving! I can't dive this Saturday or I'd offer to show you a...
Nice site, Edward. I only skimmed it but will look more closely at it later. My only thought initially was that the photo gallery needs to have photo credits.
Very beautiful over all.
Thanks.
I did not call DAN on my way to the ER-I was alone midway between Seattle and Portland and on the phone to my partner to let her know what was going on-I didn't even know what hospital I was headed to-I just followed the signs from the highway. This was the second time it happened and...
When I got the skin bends the way you described the pain is one of the syptoms I experienced. I do think you may have had Subcutaneous Decompression Illness. I had other symptoms also-rash, bruising, burning pain but my case may have just been more severe. If you haven't already, contact DAN...
Congrats, Jim! It's a good article and it's nice to see your input so prominently featured.
Would love to have you up here diving again. Or perhaps, ScubaK, ColdH2O, and I need to plan a trip down your way. Whaddya think, women?
You do not need to do the EFR course although as others posted sometimes you do it all with the same instructor which can be very convenient. You can get a First Aid and CPR certification from anywhere as long as it's current (I believe that means within one year) and show proof of that to...
I dove a wetsuit for over 200 dives through 2 winters before going dry. Yes, it's cold. But it IS doable, especially for just a couple of dives. The fish & invertebrate life here is well worth being cold for a couple of hours. If you dive wet, be sure to get warm between dives. Now that the...
The accomodations at Yellow House (Diver's Inn) are great. There's a dorm room on the lower level that will accomodate 10 - 16ish divers, plus a private bedroom on the first floor and 2 private bedrooms on the second floor with a futon couch between those 2 bedrooms. There's a kitchen and...
All of those suggestions are good for short term although I used the Dive Optics only once before they washed out of my mask.
I really wanted a long-term solution to seeing better so I could see the fish better and get more details on small ones. Also to be able to read again without glasses...
