    Usefulness of a Diving Watch

Well, I have f.i. a Suunto D4 as backup computer to my main diving computer, but I also have a divewatch which I wear much more often ( even so both can be easily worn on the wrist). The reason being that divecomputers are still more cumbersome (because thicker) then a (dive)watch.

    Usefulness of a Diving Watch

f.i. A backup device if your computer fails (provided you know a number of other parameters ( real depth or max depth of thevplace where you are diving), and eventually have deco tables with you ( unless you apply the 90 rule ( metric system)) Also good for the training in the pool for static...

    Stickers on fins

They get ripped off quite fast, especially when the fin's surface is already (even slightly) scatched. Bottles are a good place to put one or two stickers, to make them easier recognisable.

    My first dive in Dry-Suit

Great. One of the buddies whom I am diving with, had similar problems (not exactly fitting the size of standard drysuits) - he ordered his drysuit in the UK at SeaSkin (www.seaskin.co.uk), who make customised drysuits for a fair price. Maybe that would help.

    AOW and deep dives

The AOW should have given you a good understanding of the basics for diving and shall prepare you for going further, while training for the challenges that you want to take progessively. In your post you refer to wrecks at 100' and some at 200' deep. From your (OP) profile I found that you are...

The best and worst of your dry suit

@buddhasummer Sounds like a workaround, to attach the zipperlock with a bungee and then hook it up ... But will defintely put stress on the zipper, which is one of the more critical - and expensive to replace - part of a drysuit. If I was a solo diver (i will not start a discussion on security...

Deep dive / Free flow regulator

If you get a free flow, most important is not to panic. Take it calm and switch to the backup (provided that you have redundant equipment, which I would recommend that you have when you dive in cold water). Alert your buddy (but she/he probably already realized), if (s)he is experienced enough...

    Question for Neoprene Drysuit users

Will a bit depend on you - start eventually with an extra 3kg compared to the weight you put for the wetsuit, plus 500g on each ancle. This depends on what wetsuit you have (volume of neoprene of wetsuit vs drysuit), the undergarnment that you will use and your ease with the drysuit...

    Is tapatalk "worth it"?

Yes it is worth buying. It is one of the apps that is on the first page of my iPad, along with email, calendar, contacts, RSS reader and GoodReader. The advantages are easy reading, easy response (to the extend of an iPad keyboard) and good integration if you follow different Tapatalk...

    Warming between dives?

If this would be an occasional issue, I would suggest to drink warm chocolate, or suggared tea, while (if you have the possibility to warm up with an external source of heat) to take off the upper part of your wetsuit and wear a warm pullover and coat. If you drink to much, however, you will get...

    Semi-Dry vs 5/7mm Wet Suit

Andy gave the exhaustive definition of a semi dry versus a wetsuit. Now all depends on the temperature of the water where you are diving. If you feel that with a semi-dry you can go for a 5mm, then yes - but as Andy says, nothing is worth a full drysuit if you want to dive in cold water (I use a...

    Underwater lasers

Laser is a beam of coherent light, so I would guess it reachesmore far than what the diver has an impression what his depth of view is. It all depends on how much energy the beams loses when it hits a floating particle. This is what I was interested to know from the OP: if I have a (let's say)...

help me with faber tank markings please

The first two lines relate to a store in Switzerland and provide the info that the bottle was designed and sold for being filled at 200bar. Regarding the two following lines, they refer to Faber specs and you might find additional info at the following site...

    Underwater lasers

Was thinking about them as a way marker, this assumes however that the beam would be visible for about 50-100m, even in non-optimal conditions.

    Underwater lasers

Haven't used, but I am interested in the subject. Would be nice to get some info on the type of lasers and power used/proposed and how far they reach in "troubled water"
