    Drop your weights or not...

During my instruction in 1979 we would drop weights at the bottom and perform the buoyant swimming emergency ascent. A quick ride to the surface with 2 layers of 7 mil on as I remember. You got extra kudos if you got back to the bottom on your own and put your belt back on. Release of the...

Post Your Pretty Funny Stuff Here

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, British scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago. Not to be outdone by the Brits, in the weeks that followed, an...

Anyone know where to get webbing

How about a place that does industrial strength sewing...tent, bag, sail manufacturer. Or a place that specializes in repairs to those sort of things.

Do you have either of these tank straps?

Hoo boy....good luck on that one...there is no shortage of that stuff on the Fusion. But a least the hook portion of the velcro is not exposed to snag on every little thing. I suspect in your business though the other half (loops) would get full of all kinds of gunk when you get into dirty water.

    wetsuit question

Surfing wetsuits and especially wind-surfing wetsuits are bare-skin on the outside. These suits shed water very quickly thus reducing evaporative cooling...common with scuba suits if they are worn during the surface interval. I have often thought that would be one great advantage of using a...

Do you have either of these tank straps?

I did this mod the other day and it has make all the difference. Something I previously thought unusable is now a good piece of kit. I made a deep score mark using a Dremel tool and cutoff wheel and two or three wiggles with a pair of pliers broke the extra tab material off. A little...

Second stage issue caused by flying?

I have heard the same. A friend of mine related a story of his buddy's second stage flying apart while diving with him after they had arrived by air. The cover and diaphragm fell out after what appeared to be a shoddy re-assembly. The diver's bag had been inspected by TSA as there was a note...

    Boat crew setting kit up

Meh....no biggie with me. Some crews may offer the service just to be helpful but I suspect the real reason is to keep the trip organized. On a recent trip to Maui I found a common thread on all the boats I was on. They took your gear and set it up for you. While they were doing that you got...

    Master Diver - Liability

The Good Samaritan concept in Canada is only helpful to lay individuals that get involved in a situation. You may still be sued if the situation goes pear-shaped but you have the Good Samaritan concept as a defense. An off duty EMT or physician responding can still be successfully sued if...

Must read -- the Six Skills by Steve Lewis

It could also be titled, “The Philosophy of Good Diving” by Steve Lewis. Neither condescending nor pontificating in his style he instead uses his wit to inject a humorous flavour which makes it always an engaging read. I found it hard to put down. I was delighted to see that his writing style...
