Hi Tobin,
After a winter of tropical diving we didn't get a chance to do any dry suit stuff till just recently. We finally did the test you recommended to find the buoyancy of our suits. We both came in at 34 lbs to sink the suit and diver.
My wife would like a complete rig. She is still...
@Walter....very nice....best approach I've ever heard of. I remember doing many of those things when I learned in '79. I didn't think much of the skills then, but I appreciate them now.
If you have access to a pool set up a weight belt with a good assortment of weights starting with 5's and 6's finishing with 3's and 2's. Put about 40lbs on the belt. Lay the belt on the bottom of the pool and attach a floating line to the end with the heaviest weights. Get in the pool...
All good points but you have nothing to worry with IDC (International Dive Center) in Vancouver. Very professional shop and they WILL put you through the drills. I did my dry suit instruction with them 2 years ago and I got pool time plus two lengthy and busy dives in the open water.
Good...
Thanx for putting that blurb up. I spent the weekend of Apr30-May1 working in the boiler room taking out greasy "lazy rod" gear boxes and I don't think I have ever been so dirty in my life nor so satisfied. It was fun and I was so glad I could help out. From the photos I see that a huge...
An important post actually....I do believe that sporting a nudi on your cheek while wandering about a dive boat is a variable of the "rule six" violation.
Probably about 50/50 for me as I love the cold water diving on the West Coast. But most of the people who say to me "Hey, I'm a diver too" are into vacation diving and don't bother with local stuff. I think your product suits those folks well.
BTW...was good diving with you in February...
Wasn't there some guy last year going on about defending "his" air from an OOA diver by pulling out his knife......and now he might have a Glock!!:shocked2::shocked2:
Loopylettuce....crazysauerkraut....something like that :eyebrow:;)
Your Luxfer was born in May of 2001 so it is good to go if it passes hydro. I believe eddy current testing is only optional now on the newer aluminum tanks but your testing center will advise.
The old USD tank is toast as I don't think there is anyone out there who will fill a tank with the...
The sticky post at the top of this forum may have the info you are looking for.
Plus this website seems to be a good resource:

Only a few dives so far and there is one issue. The ring does lie over the buckles on the suspenders and presses them into my collar bones. I will be making a mod to move the buckles either further down or up my chest. The ring does not lie under my BC shoulder straps nor does it touch the...
The OW instruction I took in 1979 was great. I had a PADI instructor whose id number was in the low thousands...so he was one of the early ones. And he did a very thorough job and I remember the instruction quite well and also how strict but patient he was. You certainly had to perform the...
Since you are going to be doing some work to the suit anyway, consider upgrading the neck and wrist systems to configurations that allow field repairs of those critical items. Here is one site that has the parts that can be added to your suit:
SI TECH AB
I'm sure others will chime in with...
Thanks for sharing that with us Mark. Very nice indeed. First time I dove Ogden Point was 30 years ago and I dove it last year for the first time since then. Still a great dive site.
BTW...works fine in Chrome.
