My vote is for Port Hardy as well. I know God's Pocket is very nice but if you want the experience of being on a very classy liveaboard give the Swell a try. I have never felt so comfortable on a cold water trip as the two weeks I have spent on her. Nice cabins, lots of hot water,excellent...
We used this site with great success when we were there two years ago:
Scuba Shore Diving Site Listing for: The Big Island, Hawaiian Islands
The most protected and current-free dive in the list would have to be #15 Place of Refuge. Great coral there.
These guys treated me well and were...
Nice one Dale. I saw a few of those things in Hawaii in the early 80's. But they had a decidedly Red Green influence....substitute duct tape for leather. :D
Like many of you I watched Cousteau and Falco exploring the deeps and dove vicariously with Mike Nelson, Zale Parry and the evil Leonard Nimoy. I even wished I could own a Seaview submarine some day. But although I spent a lot of time in the water I had a fear of the deep water (well I thought...
I understand that part of the screening test for PFO involves the use of a Valsalva maneuver to increase intra-thoracic pressure which may open an unsealed PFO and allow right to left shunt of the injected micro-bubbles. Exertions following a dive such as climbing a boat ladder fully kitted or...

Thanks for that Dale. Have you ever heard of Johnson Lake British Columbia Fishing Adventures . We just returned from a few days diving there and I would say it has vis comparable to Pavilion. Chilliwack lake looks intriguing....I hope to check it out some day.
A few people have mentioned the "look at horizon" trick but didn't mention the other thing you have to do....but Daniel1948 did and I think that is secret that works for me.
Whenever possible either sitting or standing I try to minimize the movement of my upper body by imagining I am part of...
I inquired yesterday with Nautilus as to when they may begin shipping. They assure me they are in the last phase of the field trials and will begin shipping this month. Originally they were going to ship in March....I hope they have it right this time.
Sorry...been away for a few days. I don't think the 300 was available when I bought the 200 is the main reason. If I were to replace my present one I think I would consider it but I do believe the 200 has a longer burn time. So the trade-off is brighter vs. longer...hmmm
My feeling is the Tektite is the better one. It is certainly brighter and uses 2 C cells which I imagine translates into longer run time. The lack of moving parts is desirable as well. The only drawback I see is that you have to be very careful when turning it OFF...turning the dome enough to...
I didn't have very good luck with the PT Aqua Strobe. I bought two and one leaked on the first deep dive. Other one is still OK. I bought the pair on a deal and mainly because they were small and packed light.
My other heavier models are doing well. The ACR Firefly is very bright and...
