Good Back Up Light under $50

Minos, do us a favor and give your honest opinion on what is a good product, don't advertise for ShenZhen (whom you have openly stated you work for in other threads) in threads requesting advice and opinions of experienced divers. If you wish to sell your products, go to the appropriate...

First stage, face up or down? Also, SPG sticking up or under the arm?

As an open water SM diver, I have my first stage "outboard", but my SPGs running down the tanks, as I found having them up stuck them in my face. I'm definitely going to try first stages "Inboard" for the heck of it though.

Now works, but yes, was hoping to learn something.

Hollis Backplate and Wing Package (Like New)

@Opie, $620 from LeisurePro minus the trim and weight pockets. $742 including everything (obviously excluding knife.) I'm asking 500, shipping included and no tax (which, locally is a big thing since it is 12%, but I'm assuming it is way lower in the states)

    Question about pony bottles

There's a bunch of threads that discuss the pros and cons of Spare Air systems. I personally believe that if you are looking at investing in a isolated alternative air source, you shouldn't be looking for the product that is advertised as the "smallest redundant SCUBA system available." Sure...

newish in Vancouver BC, 50, sane and sober, seeks dive buddies

Welcome, Brian. I suggest posting this in the following regional forum Western Canada as well, otherwise local divers will likely not see this. Not sure what dive store you go through, but Ocean Quest Dive Centre has Saturday morning free dives (DM provided, gear is an additional cost if needed)...

Not unless you are buying all the pieces, but I guess then it wouldn't be piecing it out. Sorry!

    Rescue Diver - completed!

Congrats, I just finished my rescue training last week, its a life changing experience diving wise! Although, towing a victim while they are in sidemount, and while you are in sidemount, was a royal pain.. (you have to learn in what you dive though, and I'm sure the backmount people enjoyed...

S38 LX and Elite 2 harness

I got about 10-15 dives on it before I tried sidemount, and haven't dove it since. It was my first bp/w, so I have nothing else to compare it to in that category. Obviously, it dived way better than a normal back inflation. I wanted something simple, but not too simple like a Hogarthian harness...

S38 LX and Elite 2 harness

Nope, didn't get a STA until a month or so after it was set up. However, I don't recall the tech using Hollis instructions, he set it up by memory/knowledge, and a tad help from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CqyxdmpN4k for one part that he noticed wasn't threaded quite right.

S38 LX and Elite 2 harness

Weird, I watched my new Hollis S38 wing, SS backplate and Elite 2 harness being assembled a few months ago, and there was no struggle like described above.

Looking for dive buddies - Vancouver

I second what Dr Dog suggestions, Ocean Quest Dive Center offers free guided Saturday morning dives, whether you want to stick with the DM's group or branch off with some others.

    Drysuit Purchase Dilemma

I've had no experience wearing the attached fusion boots (although dived with several people who like them), only wetsuit boots or rock boots when diving the Fusion. I suggest giving one of the two a try before crossing it off your list as an option. Hope that helps.

    Whites Fusion and upgrades?

All of my open water dives have been in the White's Fusion Sport, I highly recommend Whites. Not sure how it compares to other brands, but I haven't had a problem with it. Assuming you buy the suit that is in your size range, there shouldn't be a problem with fit. The Fusion expands to the size...
