    New to doubles

The local GUE instructor has no courses going on this winter (apparently busy), so I'll be doing PADI Tec Basics (Basically dives 1 and 2 of of Tec 40) with my LDS' tech instructor in January. After that, I'm still hoping to jump on the next upcoming fundies course. Do you have any...

    New to doubles

Yesterday I invested in a set of doubles, Faber LP85s to be exact. The plan is to master them on recreational profiles before moving on to tech. I'm hoping to get them in the pool the next weekend. Looks like I'll be joining a course with a tech instructor in Jan, but I want to work out all the...

Oceanic Veo 2.0 - turns off after 2 hours then resets and does another 2 hour count

Bringing this thread back up, this is my second Oceanic Veo 2. The first one was replaced by Oceanic because it would not stop turning on and I am now having the same problem with this one. Both computers have been taken care of to manufacture's instructions. The battery is rated for "300 dive...

    Failed PADI Rescue....now what?

PFrom what I have heard in the chat discussing this, his instructor gave the standard PADI rescue course, and he failed to meet the standards of it. While the other students have had previous emergency rescue experience and everyone was performing at a higher level than you, you would have still...

    Failed PADI Rescue....now what?

Dive masters are there to assist the instructor, and supervise the students. At the rescue level, I see no advantage of a divemaster, nor know what you mean by a "personal" one. Only you can complete the course. Another thing; why take the course in the tropics, if your going to continue diving...

The search bar is a handy tool; http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/technical-diving-specialties/492026-pushing-limits-part2-world-dive-record-350m-2-days.html Couldn't have picked a more inaccurate forum to post it under either..

    Dry Suit Diving Advice

For your drysuit zipper to perform smoothly, it needs to be waxed with the Orange stuff (or any other drysuit wax) that came with it. Only the inner brass zipper needs to be waxed, not the outer black one. Just another thing, which you might already know; the zipper is the most expensive part...

    Dry Suit Diving Advice

I'd personally say it is. My LDS' rental department is full of fusions, and the only repairs needed (assuming you have the SLTs) is a skin replacement every few years (if you beat it up pretty hard) and a patch usually in the foot from some idiot running around in it without booties on. A few...

    Dry Suit Diving Advice

All, and I mean all, my dives have been in a Whites Fusion. Sure, it's different than most suits, but it works damn great. It may not be popular where you dive, but it is very popular here on the West Coast. (At least in Vancouver) And if it comforts you, Whites is owned by Aqualung, and has...

    Dry Suit Diving Advice

Personally, I would recommend the PADI drysuit course. If that is not an option though, then here is some info.. You have the concept down right, which is good. At the start of the dive, I have the exhaust valve all the way open (and I usually leave it open during the whole dive, everyone has...

    Unwritten SCUBA etiquette

Harmless fun, I'm not sure how this could be perceived as extremely dangerous behaviour. Sure, the freediver could scare someone, but really, the freediver could just have easily been a large fish, or seal as stated above.

Another option, is just to show the highest card needed for the dive, not your highest cert. True, the card involves no diving. However, the prerequisites to get the card does, and because of that, there is skill developed along the journey. But really... The cert is $60, there are worse ways...

Hose routing with one tank and dry suit

Unless he wants to oral inflate on the surface, that's not an option. Besides, wouldn't you want the BCD for redundancy? Just as well, he might prefer using his BCD for buoyancy, and only adds air into the drysuit to avoid squeeze. No point in adjusting your way of diving when you have a...
