    First Diver Down Flag....

get one made of Nylon and one of the plastic markers, no good finding out a seam has burst when you really need it, it is safety equipment. I have the https://www.diversalertnetwork.org/dive-store/?id=5 with a 15m spool. It is large and bulky to pack but it stands tall above the surface, in...

Opinion, Fact, I need help choosing a computer - Cressi, Suunto, Other?

for tech you will probably need a dc that you can put into gauge mode and use as bottom timer, AFAIK there are no multi gas (trimix) capable dcs in your price range.

    Scared I Missed Safety Stop

You need some sort of timing and depth measurement even if you dive tables, so why not take a computer that does both and keeps track of your nitrogen load for you. Getting a cheap (or second hand) divecomputer is a good idea IMHO as long as you understand what it is trying to tell you.

Help me choose some new gear

I'd take a XTX50 as octopus you can detune it (turn in the knob) to prevent freeflow while not in use and have the comfort of a great easy breathing reg if you turn on Venturi and turn out the knob for breathing it. BTW the only difference between a XTX 50 and a XTX 200 second stage is the...

    Advice requested re drysuit undergarments

I dive the Weezle Compact in Summer (temp range 8-15°C) and the Weezle Extreme in winter (temp range 2-6°C) the Extreme does reduce flexibility but not as much as I had expected. I have also dived my Compact with functional skiing underwear underneath before I had my Extreme but the gain in...

    Scared I Missed Safety Stop

the OP seems to have left ;) I too do not understand why I was taught that the safety stop was mandatory on dives deeper than 30m. Meanwhile I have understood that all these "rules" are only recommendations, and my divecomputer only shows depth and time and a statistical aproximation how long I...

An in-depth book on trimix diving?

Wikipedia is talking about 1atm while divers talk about much higher pressures. the danger of CO like any gas lies in its partial pressure not its percentage. The book I recommend is the Handbuch technisches Tauchen by Aspacher (AFAIK only available in German called the bible of technical diving)

    Egypt Dive Destinations

IMHO the corals are better in the south, you can get to Elphinstone from Marsa Alam easily and the chance to see sharks there is good, though not as good as in spring, they seem to prefer colder water. You can (or not) find dolphins and turtles everywhere in the Red Sea. Up north there are more...

Second stage exhaust check valve failed open, flooding the reg when breathing

some regs (e.g. the Apeks series) can be opened without any tools under water (though putting them together again with thick gloves might be difficult)

O2 Analyzer if just diving air?

once testing every tank for CO has become a habit, testing it for O2 at the same time only adds half a minute to the procedure.

New to diving, need some help on buying a decent regulator.

I bought all my regulators used except for one first stage (Apeks DS4) which was a shop exhibit for two months. Owning reg is expensive as you have to maintain it but you know when it was serviced last and where it has been, but I cannot imagine trusting equipment rented at dive destinations...
