    Why not tropical dry?

So, technically speaking - what is the difference between a tropical dry suit and a regular one? From what people have written above I've gotten two things: they are more breathable (but if they do in fact keep you dry then what difference does that make) and they might not have foot pockets...

    Exercised Induced Asthma

The question as to if he will have problems, only he can answer. BUT I do know that whether or not you are cleared for diving by a Doctor depends on how tightly they interpret the meaning of "normal spirometry" on the medical form. In other words... I have not been able to start my Dive Master...

    Why not tropical dry?

Well, that's really my question I guess - a suit is either dry or not but what makes a cold water dry suit different from a tropical dry suit?

    Why not tropical dry?

Hi Folks, I am looking for input on my options in dry suits. I'm looking for a dry suit that is appropriate for tropical diving but can also be used for diving off North Carolina in spring... any thoughts on why a tropical dry suit would not be appropriate for such a dual use?

    5060 and 2 gig card?

I would actually recommend that you don't use that large of a card unless you are doing video or whatnot. Reason: don't put all your eggs in one basket... I have lost/damaged several cards for different reasons. I always keep each days photos on different cards.

    PADI - Rescue Diver

I just finished mine today... I had many of the same issues, but don't sweat it. To me, I found that the best part was learning just how hard it is to actually save someone effectively. On the other hand - I learned that a victim's chances of living are increased dramatically just by a person...

    Digital Telephone

The next technology (which is already in use in many office technologies) is called POE (power over ethernet)...in this case the cable company will provide enough power to keep the phone and internet service up and runnning during a power outage. Coming to an area near you soon (maybe one or two...

Looking for a tropical dive destination with good high-speed access

Hi Folks, I'm looking for suggestions for a dive destination that has quality, inexpensive high speed access at hotels... the reason being that I'm going to be off and on a project that I'll be working remotely - my employer doesn't care if I'm in DC or in Cozumel. The catch is that I have to...

    Strobes

Hi Folks, I'm looking for a manufacturer of large strobes - I got an off-the-shelf strobe that in 30 foot viz, can't be seen from 30 feet. I'm looking for a line strobe that can actually be seen from a long distance in low-vis situations.

How old is too old for AL80

As long it is not one of the tanks that needs to be taken out of service, the service time of an AL80 is almost indefinate. Of course, it needs to be taken care of. FYI - the navy is considering moving out their hydro's to every 27 years as visual inspection has been so successful at detecting...

    Wreck Master Divers

They are horrible... I would NEVER EVER dive with them ever again. YOu can find my scathing review of their "service" on another thread of this board.

    AKONA Bags

The "Travel Security Sleeve" is basically a thin laundry duffle you could pick up at walmart for about $1.00. It also falls apart like one. Keep in mind that while your dive bag is inside the sleeve, there are no handles for the baggage handlers to hold onto, so trust me when I say, it'll get...

Lessons to be learned-Death in Palau

I never had a problem with my mask until this past weekend, when I had a lip caught on my hood... in six foot seas, cold water, and your mask repeatedly filling with every breath, this freaked me out. YES - I did remember my training... relax, breath, calmly ascend, get bouyant, and signal OK...

That's a really wierd animal - it looks like a cross between a puffer and a octo.

    Why do you penetrate wrecks?

I finally "got it" this past weekend. I was diving in North Carolina and my buddy and I came across a hatch with a ladder going down... my first reponse was "I wonder what's down there, I wonder where that goes" and I was like "wow - I wish I had my reel" and ""NOWWWWW I get it". Fortunately...

Camping & Diving in Key Largo

    'Out Growing' a Regulator?

I'd say that there is no harm in buying an upscale regulator, if you can afford to do so. I have a Mares Axis and find that in cold water I simply don't get the throughput I need since I am breathing faster - resulting in "over breathing" of the regulator. Mares claims that it can supply a good...
