Homemade PC sync cable Sherwood Wisdom?

I've been wondering the same thing. If you ever succeed, let me know.

    What IS engine braking anyway?

Actually it is. Using the compression of an engine to slow down a vehicle is by definition engine braking. And while I understand the premise of your point (using the brakes is cheaper than replacing your clutch), it's really not an accurate comparison since you don't "ride the clutch" to engine...

    Concrete entry at Marine Land?

Awww guys,.. you have me in tears. I grew up directly above Marineland right off of Hawthorne Blvd and had a great view of it from my bedroom window. (Yes,.. I was spoiled,.. I make no apologies for that.). I remember going there as a kid when it was still open, and even hearing the sea lions...

    Gear Rack photos

I know someone with a great rack too,.. but I doubt she'll let me take any pictures of it. ;) (sorry,.. I know that was an obvious/slightly offensive joke,.. but I just had to do it)

    Diver Attacked At Venice Beach!

Don't laugh,.. happened to me too on a dive off Cozumel. Here I am just minding my own business at 60 feet or so and a parrot fish bit me on the hand. I was so shocked that I accidentally spit my reg out of my mouth (and didn't even know that I did it until I realized that I was holding my breath).

Thoughts on the Sherwood Wisdom dive computer?

I really like mine. Don't know if you got air integrated, but that's definitely the way to go. My buddy bought the Suunto Cobra around the same time as I bought mine and they are comparable computers. I haven't tried the PC interface on the Wisdom, but I hear that it's the weakest part of the...

Poke a hole in your hood for venting??

I never thought about poking a hole through my hood, and I always get "cone-head". I squeeze it out just like Jeremy, several times throughout a dive. In fact, I've gotten so that I look forward to the point that I squeeze out the air, because as I run my hand from the back of my head to the...

What the ?#$@ is the deal with LeisurePro?

Yeah,.. don't blame you. I'm not a LeisurePro fan myself. I do love Scuba.com though. Great site & service.

Has anyone ever found any railroad related items?

Haven't dove any of these, but I was driving our boat around a local California lake the other day and noticed that there are quite a few submerged railroad tunnels that can be dove in this lake (Lake McClure). I guess when the valley was flooded to create the lake, it hid an extensive network...

    Lost Camera at Lobos Rocks

Nah,.. I'm not gonna bother Dave with that. He was already pretty patient with me that day and I don't want to ask too much. I just figured that if anyone happened to find it, (someday), that I should go ahead and claim it right now. ... as I said,.. shot in the dark... (I wonder how long a...

    Lost Camera at Lobos Rocks

So my buddy and I had a wonderful day of diving this past Sunday (3/5) with Dave and the crew. We were lucky enough to see about 10 whales and dive with a huge group of seals. My buddy got some great picts throughout the day but somehow his camera never made it back on board. He knows where he...

    Drysuit Nausea?

Yeah Mossman, that's what I was thinking. I've heard that while you can do it yourself, each time you start and stop with smaller scissors, you introduce tiny cracks that can turn into tears further down the road. A local professional will trim it for free and apparently has a really long set of...

    Drysuit Nausea?

Thanks for the quick responses everyone. I was checking out some other threads on here about nausea and diving and it seems that the hood could also be the culprit. Although I really think the neck seal is the prime suspect. I can feel the nausea coming on almost as soon as I put the neck seal...

    Drysuit Nausea?

Has anyone experienced nausea from wearing a drysuit? Here's the deal,.. I bought a lightly used drysuit (on here actually) that was in great condition. It's a little big for me, but nothing to be concerned about. Since this is the first time I've dove dry, I only have about four dives on...

Puerto Rico, how are the Bioluminescent Bays

I went to PR and the Bioluminescent bay at Parquera. I didn't dive that particular night, but i did visit the bays and swim around a bit. It's a fun experience and was definitely a good display of bioluminescence. However my friend continued on to Vieques and said that their BL bay was better...

    Catalina Island BSA Camp

I used to go to Emerald Bay on Catalina as a scout. That was about 13 years ago though and before I got into diving. It was one of my favorite camps though. Not sure if that's the same location that you are talking about. This link may help you. It has links to several other scout camps...

Visitor lookin to dive Chicago area

Well that's what I thought,.. but I figured that it never hurts to ask. I like to dive in new places even if it isn't prime conditions. Besides, I always wanted to try ice diving and I was hoping you guys had ice up there. Oh well. (and if anyone ever told me they dove in California during the...

Visitor lookin to dive Chicago area

So I'm gonna be in the Chicago area on a business trip during the second week of January and I was wondering if there were any dives I could do while I'm in the area. Am I crazy for even thinkin' about it? I normally dive California and am now diving dry, so that shouldn't be a problem. Can...

    Coolest Scuba Related Christmas Gift

Max, That's an awesome plate! I grew up directly above the old Marineland and I miss it so much. I still remember the night that they came and took all the animals out of there. While it was an awesome sight, it was so sad. Anyways,.. I doubt most people would feel the same about that plate, but...

Royal resorts Cancun , and diving

Spratman, You're right about Captains Cove. I don't know that it was destroyed by Hurricane Wilma but it took a beating. When I was down in September they were working on it and I believe it's supposed to be completed by the end of the year. I have dove once with Scuba Cancun, but wasn't all...
