Experienced diver...feel like a nervous newbie

I was the same way when I started out. I'd spend half the night before a dive up and nauseous just thinking about it. I certified in Grand Cayman and was incredibly nervous and lacking any confidence when I started diving at home. The cold and thicker exposure protection can create a lot of...

Help with getting smell out of mask

Baking soda? Works great for dive buddy's booties.

    Custom masks that fit perfectly

I have a mini Grand Canyon on my upper lip and need to apply some silicone to the skirt or I get constant leaks in any mask. A custom one that could prevent this would be very nice.

New Diver Perspective - How I Started

They sure can. They swim tail first and are lightning fast. They usually don't swim very far so if you're lucky enough to see where the went, they're yours.

    Neck seal keeps roilling

Since a seal being too tight was mentioned, what is tight enough? I've been diving my first drysuit and had to trim one ring because it was just too tight and uncomfortable. My trim job feels ok most of the time, but it also leaves (occasionally) a garrote mark around my neck. Too tight even if...

Excited – and intimidated – for my first non-training dive

Agree with the comments about being up front with your diving. It took me about 30 dives to really get comfortable with myself. Frankly, I found it re-assuring that people around me (DMs or friends from my club) gave pointers on how to improve but also what I'm doing well for a beginner. It's...

Does anyone feel that culling invasive lionfish is a bad thing?

When was that prohibited? The two dive ops with whom I dove continue to do so openly.

Does anyone feel that culling invasive lionfish is a bad thing?

I don't disagree with the practice, but I was informed during my last trip to Grand Cayman in May that eels are becoming much more aggressive. Altering behavior with lionfish culling and subsequent feeding is one angle.

PSA: phenylephrine (Sudafed PE) looks to be worthless

I agree then - total garbage. When you go to the pharmacist and ask for "the stuff that people make drugs with" you'll find a wonder drug. After the dirty looks and after you stop feeling high as a kite, of course.

PSA: phenylephrine (Sudafed PE) looks to be worthless

Is that the stuff in the aisle rather than behind the counter?

    Contacting Mares

Call them. Scuba manufacturers are still in the dark ages regarding e-mail.

Problem with Mares avanti quattro +

My Super Channels have the same problem, though it is not nearly as rough as yours. Occasionally one side of the strap will undo itself.

    Freeflow on boat?

Yes, it will freeflow even if knocked around too much out of water.

    Freeflow on boat?

I've got a primary that cracks very easily, but a quick tap on the mouthpiece will stop a freeflow. If it bothers you, just have it adjusted.

    what mouthpiece ?

4th for the comfobite. As with Keith, it cured my jaw fatigue.

Any Experience with the Cressi Leonardo Computer

My dad dives one and likes it for the most part. I've played around with it a few times. The screen layout is pretty nice with easily readable numbers. Backlight is nice. I find one button computers to be a nuisance, but with a download kit I suppose there's not a whole lot of need to cycle...
