Who said anything of the sort-- I burn thru a lot of air trying to find that damn anchor line. I also use a 150' drift line just incase current is a bit more than I expected.
I actually like the whole man aginst the sea thing so 3' chop just means I put the drysuit on a bit sooner (like when...
For us cold water divers we have a very easy way to stay within the tables using a simple SPG it is called a Al80.
I am not great on extending my air consumption but I do better than the guys I dive with and everytime I start getting close to limits it is time to head upwards because I am...
Yea -- I am kind of funny like that.
For me the weighting and lift seem to balance very well and can remain in any position that I want (surface or underwater). Of all the equipment I bought when I started ~5yrs ago the Ranger is the only piece left that I use and have been happy with since...
I know in one of my other posts I suggested Keystone (it is kind of a staple of Puget sound dives) but to be honest it really isn't that exciting of a dive. It mostly consists of diving along a breakwater and most of the ling I have seen there are rather small. Under the pilings is better but I...
Find a copy of Northwest Shore Dives-- I think it is back in publication.
Some of my favorites are:
Sunrise Beach Park-- Tides Tavern afterwards
Titlow -- Beach Tavern afterwards
Boat Anywhere-- Reach in cooler afterwards
Keystone -- too damn far home for a tavern afterwards
Redondo --...
I have never felt like my ranger was pushing me forward.
IMHO You don't buy a BC for surface performance, it is a diving (read underwater) device. Think about it how much time do you spend in the water on the surface? In my book you hit the water and decend, on the return you surface and...

Priority wise that is pretty close to it too.
Have boat, not uncomfortable with diving from and unmanned boat.
Laid back approach (not anal)
Enjoys after dive brew (or three)
Regular buddies seem to be petering out on frequency of diving and I don't like it.
Boat to be out of storage and ready to go in about a week
I have had both, I will never go back to a shell. I may consider Crushed Neoprene for the next suit but not a true tri-lam shell.
I dive ~50F waters to ~120' and have yet to get chilled since changing over to neoprene.
The drag issue is huge, I laughed it off when I bought the first...
A Reg is not all that complicated. If you have good tools and are familiar with manufacturing techniques then dissassembly/cleaning/service is not that tough. If you are not mechanically inclined, impatient, or generally parinoid then you too can rebuild your reg.
I have been reading this...
I don't use one (quit shore diving) but the minute I put up the dive flag on the boat the same thing happens.
So many stupid people with ability to buy boats and PWC, I almost think licences should be required (going against every libertarian instinct I have)
I think that is the old sewer pipeline--- is this just north of the brownish (or at least they were last time I was there) condos that are out on the pier?
Decent dive from what I recall, the surface swim was a bit much.... but that was my buddies DSA (dumb S#*T attack) for not paying...
