    Bit the Bullet...First Bag Drag

I agree with Dave. The 'Bag drag' is just not as painful as a layover. And there's ALWAYS a layover when you're coming from Seattle.... I can get non-stop to Cancun and for $40 hire a driver to handle my bags and get me on the ferry. Yes, the bus is MUCH cheaper, but I'm on vacation, I...

Commute from North Side to downtown for diving - problem?

Done it for years. The only issue I've every had is finding an early breakfast up north. Taxis are usually around, if not the hotel will call for you and one will be there in minutes.

    Anyone ready for November?

If by ready you mean ready for it to get here and lead into December... then Yep! I'm ready! Don't wear out the divemasters, and leave some cold beer for me please. Enjoy your trips!

    Travel Warning for MX

My cop friends are about 80/20 in favor of legalization. However, in public, mixed company conversation they'll come down around 60/40. It's weird, and those that support legalization often immediately get defensive and start spewing silly statistics or reasons. They're obviously not...

    Travel Warning for MX

This is sad indeed. Those with ties to and experience in Cozumel and Qroo will most likely feel it is unjustified and we will continue to visit and spend money. However, I've had 18 (18!) texts, IM's and emails regarding this. It came too close on the heels of the tainted alcohol stories so...

Be careful where and what you drink

Not sure if it's beating a dead horse. When this story first broke I waited to see where it would go. Was it simply a devastated family looking for answers and someone to blame? We all know that many Mexican vacations include far too much drinking. Were they making up excuses for bad...

    Cozumel Airport forbidden items

I think this is the second phase of moving towards a total ban of electronics in aircraft cabins for international flights ENTERING the US. Laptops, notepads, Kindles and even the larger 'note' style phones haven't been allowed when flying from the middle east or on a middle eastern airline for...

Volaris deal! - airfare from the Seattle

I was checking airfares last night from Seattle and Volaris now flies to Cozumel (through GDL) for about $400. I was looking in Dec-Feb, so into CZM instead of CUN that's a screaming deal!! They fly out of a few airports in CA, so it may be even cheaper from there :)

Female traveling from Atlanta, carry on luggage only

^^What Christi said^^ We always buy our sundries for the trip when we get there. Shampoo/soap/sunscreen/conditioner...etc is HEAVY and takes up room. It's easy to find someone who might want any of it that's left over at the end. As a whole, taking into account one less bag fee and any sales...

Female traveling from Atlanta, carry on luggage only

There you go actually reading the post again Gordon.... If everyone were like you how would we end up with yet another thread about restaurants from a "What time does the first ferry leave in the morning?" post?!

    La Perlita Closed???

I noticed the same thing on my last trip. Same top 40 songs all over Israel with only a bit of local music. Less US top 40 in Jordan, same in Istanbul. Although Istanbul seemed to run more towards US rap. Nasty ugly rap. Maybe most don't understand the lyrics? I wasn't expecting that....

Cozumel Trip Report, Late May – Early June 2017

I've never done a liveaboard, but I've heard for years I need to get to T & C. From my research a liveaboard seems the way to go. Never been to Belize either, but I think I would do Turneffe or maybe AC instead of a liveaboard. BUT....Other than that, I'm 100% in agreement with this list. :)...

I gave my daughter the "Cozumel Addiction"

About 6 years ago I had a dive trip planned with a buddy to Coz and she had to cancel. My 16 year old son had been certified a year before so I took him with me. It was one of the best weeks of my life! To spend that kind of time with just my boy, diving, on Coz.... Great memories were made...

    Fins for Cozumel

James: My fins don't fit in carry-on. I travel with a carryon contianing all my clothes and necessities and then a duffel solely for dive gear and all the misc. things I mule down for friends and various organizations. Thinking about the question...I don't think I would like short fins that...

    September, October, or November?

I love October IF the weather holds. No crowds, not too hot, water is warm, it's perfect, really my favorite month. However, I've had to call a couple of vacations early due to tropical storms that went on for over a week.

To car or not tonly car....that is the question. Tis it better to rent or taxi?

Sometimes it seems like you're spending a ton of money on taxis... until you do the math. A car is $35ish a day... Hard to spend that on taxis in a day.
