    Scuba Mau

So I'd let this thread die, but I was just looking at Cozumel dive shop reviews at Trip Advisor, and I don't see Scuba Mau in the top 20 anymore. Anybody know what that's about? Things to Do in Cozumel - Cozumel Attractions - TripAdvisor

    Anyone dive with a Camelbak?

Hmmm, nice anti-DCS accessory for long dives?

    Scuba Mau

Just want to say if you are looking for a cult name, the obvious one is Mau-ists, loyal to Chairman Mau. Right, carry on.

    Scuba Mau

I know Jerry dived -- I think he said something like it replaced psychedelics for him. Not saying that I've got anything to replace, but diving definitely has that effect on me. ;) Have you ever seen the video of Jerry charming an eel in Hawaii? If not, it's a treat. YouTube - Jerry...

I miss Jerry too. Wonder if he ever dived Cozumel. :dance3:

    Scuba Mau

At first I though SM would be the way to go because they've got so many fans here. But then, you know, I started looking at threads where someone dared to say something critical about them, and the same gang went and jumped all over the critic. Good shops have fans, but what's weird is that...

    Scuba Mau

What's good for the goose is good for the gander dude. You said you knew about skeletons about a particular trip from another diver. I would really find it helpful to hear about these bones.

    Scuba Mau

I'll bite. I'm thinking about using Aldora on an upcoming trip. What are the skeletons? As a couple of folks mentioned earlier when something was brought up about Scuba Mau, it's not right to complain about an op without detailing the basis of the complaint.

    Scubatoys Regulator Service

There's nothing like getting and servicing good gear cheap -- and then spending the savings on more dive trips.

    Scubatoys Regulator Service

You spoke, I listened, ST profited. Just sent my regs to ST. I called my LDS first to see how much more it would be to have the work done locally. They said they don't service my brands and would have to send the regs someplace else for service (ST?). That made the decision easy. :angel2:

    Scubatoys Regulator Service

Thank you everybody for the quick and helpful responses! If others have thoughts on the subject, please keep them coming. Bubbletrouble, I would ultimately like to service my own regs, especially if I'm satisfied and stay with the Calypso, given its simple design.

    Scubatoys Regulator Service

After years of renting, I recently bought gear, including a used Aqualung Calypso regulator and LPO octo. I bought the Calypso in part because it is reputed to be durable and simple to service, but of course as used gear it now needs service. I see that Scubatoys, a company I've done business...

Pool for Practice in DC Metropolitan Area

Does anybody know of an indoor pool in the DC Metro area that permits divers to practice skills and dial in new equipment outside the context of a class?

    Airfares - Wow !!

Thanks Don. Just took a look at the Farmer's Almanac, and it is impressive how far ahead they can accurately predict weather! :wink1: I take your point, too, that crazy weather can happen outside "typical" date ranges. Still, what I am looking for is just a probabilistic estimate based on...

    Airfares - Wow !!

Hey, does Norte frequency typical diminish much between late-February and early to mid-March?

    Buoyancy woes. Need help.

You might find that it helps to bias your BC inflation to being a bit negative. Ultimately, as you know, you want to control your buoyancy at a given depth range with your breathing, but if you are having trouble with this, it helps to just stop fiddling with BC for a bit. I find it harder to...

    Dark Descent

Must every diving book invoke darkness in its title, e.g., "Dark Descent," Diving into Darkness," "Shadow Divers?" Makes you wonder why anybody wants to dive. :bonk:

    Closing the Port

On these recent days when the port has been closed, has it been closed to all boats, or just the sub-40 footers?

Half of Dead Divers on Their First 20 dives

It would be interesting to know how many of these divers were diving without a DM. OW certification allows you to just go out and dive with anybody else who's certified. If both divers are new, you've potentially got the blind leading the blind with no sighted aide (the DM) around.

What did you buy that you regret?

I started reading this thread at the beginning, eventually realizing that it started in 2005 and is 106 pages long. A lot of regrets on Scuba Board! :D
