I'm not sure, I mainly gave that example because I thought of gue cave divers who teach dir-f and cave, but no tech classes.
however, looking into the prerequisites I found:
that means you have to be an instructor with another agency first, but I can't find anything where it says you have...
I strongly disagree with this.
JJ himself and a group of guys were dir divers long before gue was founded.
as a matter of fact, they where dir divers and felt the need to found gue to spread their way of diving.
it's kind of: "what came first, the chicken or the egg", but in this case it's...
nowhere did I say you read a page and a half and you're dir.
I can show you some drafts my attorneys wrote for me, I have you read it and we'll see how much you understand of it (being able to read doesn't mean you understand what you read)
and conveniently you leave out the most important...
my ppO2
absolutely not, there is only one dir certification and that is dir-f and it only serves to give you an understanding of what dir is all about.
you sure can accumulate this information without ever taking dir-f.
now, what makes a diver a dir diver?
read this on the gue site
and...
just because some divers take scuba diving a little more serious and have safety protocols to insure their own and their buddys survival while still having fun, doesn't make them "nazi's"
this could be taken as a very offensive post against safe scuba divers.
sounds great, doesn't it?
as a prerequisite to DIR-F you must be OW certified.
so, OW cert about $350.00, DIR-F about $400.00 and why not throw in nitrox at an extra $100.00
I wonder how many of you would have decided to become an OW scuba diver if your initial certification would have cost...
very nice explanation rick,
a couple of things I like to add:
do this exercise at 30' where it is the most difficult to obtain (as explained by jamdiver)
also, before you even start to be buoyant you must be in trim (if you don't need to be vertical for whatever reason).
trim and buoyancy...
I know, a little late, but luckily not tooo late.
I'm glad to see you didn't dive the sg yet.
you have absolutely no business to dive the sg as harsh as it might sound, but that's a fact.
the sg is a serious deep water wreck dive at the absolute limit of recreational diving. ask yourself a...
I'm in Broward and I'm looking for a dive partner who is willing to go out and practice DIR style diving.
best would be someone who is also willing to move on to tech 1 some time next year, but that is not a must, if you have a provisional like me, this would be just as good.
I would like to...
thanx for the warm welcome, if you guys have any questions about any of my other hobbies I will certainly try to do my best in giving you my advise/opinion.
Hi all,
a little intro about myself.
my name is detlev and I'm german, I live in florida since 1987 and everybody calls me david (since nobody could remember my real name) even my mom calls me david today.
I got my ow certification in 87 and went diving with some crazy friends.
having a...
