Flooded S70; replace or buy new?

Hi gang. I'm an experienced amateur underwater photog and after 18 months find myself with a very wet and ruined Canon S70. First, my rant. Why’d it flood? [well maintained Canon WP-DC40 Housing] I don’t know! What’s frustrating is that it was perfect on the first dive of the day, not...

Could someone point me in the right direction? I'd like to buy a replacement SI Tech dump valve. I'm located in Sydney Australia. Regards, David

Leaking Apeks High Profile Dump Valve

Hi. The high profile dump valve on my DUI FLX-50/50 suit appears to be leaking. I consistently come out with only my left shoulder area damp. I've checked the suit for leaks and could not find any. I've unscrewed the valve and everything inside appears in order. How do I completely...

    Suunto vyper symbol question

The symbol means "recommend extended surface interval". Means you did something naughty and thinks you should sit out for a while so you can think about what you've done. ;-) Note: this symbol stays on all the time when you choose the RGMB 50 model on the Vytec.

suunto vytec button problem (light) and more

I thought my backlight was broken also... Then I read the manual. While above water you have to hold the button down for two seconds for it to go on. This only works in some modes in certain situations. However, when in dive mode (ie: underwater) you simply tap the button ONCE and the...

    flickering c8 eLed

As for the toch flickering please check that your batteries are all the same size and that the battery spring try is installed correctly. Bumping batteries when you shake the torch will cause the flickering you describe. Hope this fixes the problem.

    flickering c8 eLed

Don't use a 7085 voltage regulator with LED's... This is a recepie for disaster and will likely melt your torch. LED's require a regulated current supply, not voltage. Torches like the shockwave LED will dim as the batteries drain. The UK torches should hold their brightness longer over the...

Poll of tall dry suit guys...

I bought a second hard DUI FLX 50/50 stock size Large recently. I'm 188cm (6'2") and around 72-75 kg. The DUI suit is rather large around the mid-section but otherwise works. My undergarment is a Bare C100 M-Tall. This fits well but is not quite long enough. I would go with a Bare M-L-Tall...

    UK 4AA eLED "Plus"

Anyone have any experience with this new torch? I've got the regular Q40 mini and the eLed upgrade module. The Q40 is great for a daytime torch, but the eLED is terrible during the day. I use it mainly for gearing up at night. dp

    eLed Modifications - x-post

According to UK the batteries in the C4 and C8 are wired in series. They said using AA's would work fine with a shorter burn time. You'll notice that the eLED module is rated for 6 Watts, however the actual LED is only 5 Watts. The reason is that the voltage regulator circuitry itself...

    lookin for affordable light.

Consider an UK C4 eLED modified with 8 AA cells as described a few messages down. I used mine for the first time last night side by side with a HID light cannon and was very, VERY impressed. The eLED's hot spot is about twice the size of the light canon's and not as bright in the center, but...

    UK eLED AA8! (Modified C4)

Presently I pull the batteries out and charge them individually. I suspect any 9.6V charger designed for Remote control multi-pack AA batteries will work just fine. Anyone?

    UK eLED AA8! (Modified C4)

Hi All. I modified my UK C4 eLed over the weekend to run on 8 AA NiMh batteries. I wanted the torch to be as bright as the 8 cell version but more compact. The C8 can be bulky to pack and heavy in the water. The modification took less than an hour to do, is completely reversible and even...

    eLed Modifications - x-post

I'd like to buy an eLed torch and understand that the C8 is brighter than the C4, but the light module between the two is identical. Because the C8 is a lot heavier than the C4 I was wondering if anyone would recommend using AA NiMh batteries with C adapter sleves in the C8, or building a AA...

Inhale on reg when disconnected? ATX40

I just bought a new Apeks ATX50/40 reg set and noticed the instructions booklet said in the predive checkout that you should not be able to inhale when the tank is turned off. This is true on my ATX50, but on the ATX40 there is a very small amount of air that is drawn into the mouthpiece when I...

Bought Balance BCD w/ Apeks ATX50/40

Hi all. I bought my first BCD and regs set yesterday and have some comments/observations/questions I'd like to share with the forum. I was planning to buy the gear mailorder, but after an incident with the shipping (the gear arrived a day too late!) I decided to go local. My LDS was only a...

Morphos Pro (M) or Seaquest Balance (ML)

I'll be ordering my first BCD from LP in a few days and am deciding between a Mares Morphos Pro and a Seaquest balance SL. I've tried the Balance on and like it, but have yet to see a Morphos at a LDS here in Sydney. I am 6'2" (188cm), 180 lbs (76kg) and skinny. Will a Medium Morphos fit me...
