It was on Bonaire that I discovered Guinnekens.
I prefer a good dark beer. Amstels, ain't that.
Guinness is a bit heavy, but it's nearly always available on Bonaire.
So of course is Heineken, which to me tastes a bit "green", in a similar was a IPAs do to me.
Compromise, Guinnekens.
Mostly...
Oxycodone is scary shite, for sure, but after Colleen fractured her neck in Feb, it was a Godsend for the first couple of weeks.
Luckily Flexerol(sp?) and large doses of Vitamin I helped after that script ran out.
Even more lucky for Collen was the fact that there was no real spinal cord damage...
I'm sorry to hear this, Pete. Hope the surgery goes well, and you are back U/W soon.
It sucks that you cannot even share the SI's and the party(ies) on this trip.
I was just conversing about this trip with my brother, and my voice to text app changed "shore diving" to "short of having".
I decided that AI got it right....shore diving is a bit like being short of having a boat for diving....
;)
The Southern Cross is a pretty basic, 4 star pattern, with 4 fairly bright stars set in nearly a perfect square.
I have never paid attention while on Bonaire, but south of the Equator it is usually pretty distinct.
On one Bonaire night dive, shortly before covid, my brother and I spent a good part of our dive watching a gang of hunters working the Reed.
One giant Green Morrey was freeswimming, on the hunt, and moving south along the reef, with an entourage of 5 large Tarpon as his wingmen.
The Morrey and...
Against the current. There's always something to see.
Day time, we used to see more turtles just to the south of that site, but I have not dived at the Plaza in quite some time now.
Ok, not quite ready, as in sorted, checked and packed but I am ready to get out of here, and go diving...and we've missed diving Bonaire every year, since C19 ended that tradition.
Counting days.....
I thought that I'd add a Countdown Timer to my SB signature, for this Invasion.
Apparently, though, the countdown timer is no longer an avaiable option here on scubaboard.
:(
It would have been fun to see it for this trip.
I count @67 days until we set foot again on Bonaire!
After well over 10 years of visiting Bonaire at least 1X a year, and then going Cold Turkey since C19 hit, we are counting the days!
:beerchug:
At BTS in Newark today my brother, Dale was chatting with the folks from The Plaza, where the SB Bonaire Invasion, 2024 is staying.
Unlike me, he's never set foot on that property.
He seemed pleased with his research.
