SS, do you have any proof that the police have really apprehended the crooks, or is that unconfirmed rumor? Since you are a stickler for that proof stuff, I'm sure you can produce something that confirm that?
Any comment on the above posted account of Bonaire crime to that group of divers...
SS, any comments on the above posts, about what happened to that group of divers when they were victims of crimes on Bonaire: break ins and rental vehicle crime? I'd be interestd in what you have to say about that, not about Charlotte NC, where divers do no go because there is no diving here
part 2
"Shortly after the discovery of what had taken place I called the Police Department in Kralendijk and explained in detail as to what had taken place. I was advised that it would be approximately one hour before an officer could come to the scene. We also contacted Mous, who is one of...
This is a bit long but very detailed and filled with important info to aid divers heading to Bonaire.

Does anyone have any solid ways to stop the Bonaire crime? Yeah, police intervention would help, but, what else can be done? It's a shame to read about divers getting ripped off there and their vacations ruined. :(
herk man cease and desist from the continuous personal attacks. If you continue with this onslaught of personal attacks, you may lose your posting privilidges in this thread. Let's just stop it, OK? No one wants to read that stuff. Stay on topic HM
If the crooks on Bonaire are upping the ante and now yanking safes in guests rooms out of the wall, the only secure way to lock your stuff is with the hotel safe in the office, I guess?. Since some of the break-ins in Bonaire have occured with crooks having access to room keys, is the office...
No personal attack against your wife occured from me at any time. I don't know her, nor has she ever responded to any of my posts, to my knowledge, so there would be no reason for me to do that.
I accept your apology[thank you] and offer mine in return. If you misconstrued anything I said be...
If I may add to your list, based on what I and a few people have noticed: some people believe the reports of Bonaire crime they read on this and other boards and also believe what they have been told by actual Bonaire crime victims, as in OP. They also believe, as I do, that they are not...
But isn't that the type of hearsay you eschew? You're relying on rumor of them being apprehended, without any proof of that? How is that different then a friend telling me about how he was a victim of a serious crime on Bonaire? Why different rules?
Well, I think you've finally hit upon a...
Notice the list are all the things YOU should do but still no mention of what the police are doing on a daily basis? What this amounts to is security transference from police, who's job it really is, to the tourist?
How could you be comfortable at any of the sites, after knowing what is...

My wife and I have made dive vacations to some really great spots. Bonaire is still our persoanl favorite.
Guess we can go out on a limb and say you are not very objective about Bonaire and their rampant crime problem, huh? :shakehead:
I'm astounded that some people are still singing the "use common sense" and "you will be a victim if you don't take precautions" mantra, in the face of the evidence we have? Criminals are using crowbars to break into rooms, yanking safes off the walls and taking their contents. People are sound...
My sincere wish is that your dive vacation is safe and crime free.I am as baffled as you that the same crowd of Bonaire apologist keep spewing the paradise myth when things are so much the opposite. They don't get it that they are the problem, a hindrance to improvement.:shocked2:
Be safe.
I guess you could say, PB, that you make Krispy Cremes for flies. Some are trying to solve the Bonaire crime problem and PB is in the mens room with doughnut boxes. Hey, everyone needs a hobby.
