Many thanks to Dandy Don, he's not called Dandy for nothing, for instructing me on how to use the multi quote feature. Who knew? :)

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

You'll want to concentrate on each other and your future lives together, not be on guard constantly to avert being a crime victim. If you let your guard down on Bonaire it could happen, and has. There are just too many other safer and more romantic places in the dive world to chose. At the...

clafrieda, would you keep us posted and give us some updates on your situation? It would be nice if you got some things, if not all the things, back. Damn did you say $6,000.00 in stuff and cash is what you were robbed of from your hotel room in Bonaire? I can't recall if you said you had...

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

Rather than send you a PM I'd like to share my thanks for your informative, and shocking, post on the board so we might help shed a bit more light on this and, maybe, help the next group of divers brave enough to chance a visit to Bonaire, while this crime spree is in full swing. yes, you...

They are known as the ABC islands, for a reason.

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

It was very clear you were saying that some posters in this thread are just accepting this level of crime as unique to the "islands":shakehead: The pro Bonaire fanatics are equating break -in crimes to slow service in restaurants in the Caribbean.:shocked2: hey, it's the island so what do...

What would you have done? This should be interesting:eyebrow: WHAT do YOU think he SHOULD have done? That should be interesting too.;)

You were on vacation and you're not a policmean.:eyebrow: If the cops in Bonaire will do nothing, why should you do their job for them, that is, if they see stopping crime as part of thier job? It appears thier is a degree of complicity in these crime? And some of you are not shocked...

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

This response typifies the attitude of the pro Bonaire Fanatics.:shakehead: Thinking like that is one of the main obstacles in steming the rising tide of crime on Bonaire.:shakehead:

Yes, that should be a very big concern for divers. I'm not liking what I'm reading about them.:shocked2:

What is it they say, be part of the solution, not part of the problem. :depressed:

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

As you correctly notice, those attitudes are what perpetuates the bad situation on Bonaire.:depressed: They just don't get it.
  16. pilot fish

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

This saddens me greatly.:depressed: I just can't, for the life of me, understand why some posters on this board, in this thread, can't see how bad things are on Bonaire:confused: What is it going to take to get your attention?? When is enough enough??? That's a real bit loss. Sorry to hear it.

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

It is a sad fact that some divers are rethinking Bonaire. I think, at this point, it might be the wise move, until the police and Bonaire Gov get a better handle on crime. As you correctly say, the condo owner and resort have a reasonale duty to care for thier guest. :shakehead:They don't? then...

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

Highlighting the ongoing crime problem that is hurting the island of Bonaire is not bashing. It's an attempt to inform divers. that might be considering going there, what the reality is: very little to nothing seems to be working to stem the crime tide on Bonaire. It's a shame.

    Be careful in Bonaire (Burglaries)

DV, given all the break-ins on Bonaire, what extra security measures do you take when you rent your condos out to divers in your rental condos on Bonaire? Do you have deadbolts on the doors so divers will not be robbed when they sleep? Do you have armed guards patrolling the area? alarms? Should...
