    Ice diving

What kind of regulators are required for this? Certainly a sealed diaphram first stage. How about second stages? Is anything EN250-rated good enough?

    Ice diving

Ah, true. I understand sea water can only get as cold as -4°C. So, what would it take to do that comfortably, for the average person?

    Ice diving

This thread isn't too old to continue, is it? :D What kind of insulation should one expect to need for ice diving? Would a Thinsulate 250 do the trick in a trilaminate suit? My guess is that would not be enough. I understand comfort varies considerably per person.

Thinking of buying my first dry suit. Thoughts?

I've all but pulled the trigger on Seaskin. I have my suit all spec'ed out and in the shopping cart. I just need to take the measurements and, the hardest part, actually clicking "buy." I am in no hurry because it is already too late to get it in time to dive with it this winter, so I am going...

Thinking of buying my first dry suit. Thoughts?

Yeah, but a custom-fitted Deep6 is twice the cost of ($1000/£500 more than) a Seaskin. Would the extra cost be worth having local service available?

Antarctica DIVING - 1850 euros OFF the Plancius - March 2019

How does one dive Antarctica? What advanced training is required? Is any special equipment required?

Dry suits: If you could do it all over again...

If you could get back all of the time and money you have spent on dry suits and undergarments over the years to do it all over again, what would you do differently? What do you wish you had known when you started? Would you chose a different material? Different brand? Different seals? Different...

    Drysuit - help needed

Would anyone else care to chime in? I have been bitten by the cold water bug and have just begun dry suit research.

What are the accessories that you will always dive with, and why ?

In the quarry I don't bring anything. In the ocean I bring a sausage. I will never leave it behind. The one dive I thought about leaving it behind was the one dive I ended up using it.

What Small/Big Gifts are You Hoping to Get (or Gift Yourself)?

My new second stage should be in this week. I am excited about that. I hope the wing I ordered ships out, soon! The hurricane hit the supplier, so of course the delay is understandable and rebuilding is much more important than any material possesion. But, when it does arrive, my next...

    Wanted Travel Wing

I would say the Argonaut is your best option. These are back in stock, and at good price: Store | Vintage Double Hose The only other 18-pound wing I know of is the OxyCheq Mach V: Northeast Scuba Supply Store - Search Results for "18#" Unfortunately, they are hard to come by at the moment...

Closed: HOG wing, 32-pounds $200 – charity sale

They are indeed available! They both have 11" hole centers, so the wing will definitely work with a Dive Rite Transpac stainless steel plate, and the backplate will definitely work with a Voyager EXP Wing. Feel free to ask any further questions!

Sharing Your Current BP/W Gear List

Yeah. If it weighed 6.5 pounds and had at least one attachment point (I like to keep my safety sausage way out of the way) it would be perfect! I may make a crotch strap for it. If I do, then I will likely make a 1" strap for the full-sized plate while I am at it. 2" webbing may be a bit wide...

This thread is woefully lacking pictures, if you ask me. :)

Sharing Your Current BP/W Gear List

Main rig, on the left: 1. Backplate - Halcyon SS 2. Wing - OxyCheq Mark V 18# (on order) 3. Harness - Webbing, rings, keepers, buckle and bolt snaps are from Piranha Dive.
