jringold - Thanks for starting this thread. I usually do Ocean Divers and pay hotel rack rates but last Thursday I booked through Rainbow Reef discounted hotel and diving trips for this coming June. If experience is good this is where I'll brings a couple of friends doing their OW...
I used to do that with stereo equipment when I was starting out (whatever happened to Household Finance anyway?).
0% credit card offers for 12 months maybe. Otherwise don't pay interest to anybody except maybe for an home or auto purchase IMO.
MEAT was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Quite an achievement for a Key Largo restaurant. Looked for the video - didn't find it but found this instead :)
Brought by gear in for the first overhaul this weekend (it's 6 years old w/o any servicing). San Francisco Bay Area cost of living probably affects what LDS charges but I thought $35 a stage + parts seemed reasonable. Bamboo Reef San Francisco (ScubaPro equipment).
The Duane is not overly technical if the current is not outragous (which I'm told it can be but I am about 10 for 10 w/o experiencing it). Your shallow water dives will familiarize you with your new equipment; you may want to consider the Duane after that weather permitting. You can dive the...
Thanks for the condition update; I'll at KL in less than a week hoping that Leslie doesn't kick things up. Also wondering (as an experienced diver who hasn't dove in 21 months when I did the Blue Hole) if I should pass up a Duane dive in favor of a shallower get-acquainted dive to begin with...
Hey DThoughts;
Could you please post up a link to sea conditions for the Key Largo reefs? I found a NOAA Molasses site but don't find sea hights listed (just water temp and salinity). Thanks in advance.
BTW I have found the keys (especially the Duane dive trip) just as enjoyable as Cayman...
I went to Elvi's on Middle / Pescadero street. Then I came back 3 more times that week. Try the Mayan Chicken. About 13 USD for dinner and drinks were about $2.50.
Doc which hotel is that? I came pretty darn close to needing one last trip (as AA was an hour late departing and I had a 75 minute connection to make).
Just returned and stayed at Paradise Villas. The name of the dive operation in front of the villas on Wet Willy's pier is "Dive Adventures". Carl skippers the "Bigga Bubble" boat and exibited the best seamanship I have ever seen. Mike is the divemaster and is very personable and thorough. I...
I'm staying 8 nights on Ambergris Caye during Easter Week in the northern part of town but way below the cut. Any suggestions as to where a single guy could get a good meal and a cold Belikin with lunch or a rum drink and dinner? I am so looking forward to the diving and the all-day Blue Hole trip.
Can any of you tell me what to expect on a trip during Holy Week (Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday)? This would be April 17 (full moon!) to 24th this year. Primary focus is on diving; to what extent are diving activities curtailed during this period? Thanks in advance.

I've heard a few others say that AmigosDelMar is hit or miss but I had a fantastic trip with them to the Blue Hole and they put out a great luncheon spread followed by two great dives. Then the crew brought out the rum and pineapple juice for the trip back home. The blue hole is The...
For future reference as this thread was started a few weeks ago:

The temperature at the Blue Hole however at...
