Is Ginnie Springs worth it if you aren't Cave or Cavern Certified?

I did it on the way home from my IE. I thought it was awesome. Actually my avatar is me at Ginnie springs. Theres 4 springs all are pretty cool. Devils spring (I think that's the name) was intense. You had to pull yourself down to the cave entrance. The ballroom was super cool too. I think all...

    MOREHEAD CITY Bound!

I don't dispute the fact they've earned it, however we were 30 miles out which is past federal waters. I'm in the Marine Corps so I know what earning is all about. The Navy would be as awesome if it wasn't for the Marines ;)

    Morehead City / Camp Lejeune / Jacksonville - June 24-27 (mid-week)

Today on the Naeco, which is way offshore, vis was 20-25 and 76 degrees. Vis on the Spar was less than 10, temp mid 70s, Aeolus had 15 and mid 70s and I think I heard the Indra was less than 2 and low 70s

    lionfish spearing

I wish there was as well. When you bring as fish up from 135' they tend to lose their lunch. There were juvenile snapper, tropicals and who knows what else they didn't lose. There were so many lionfish. We put a small dent in the population. I/we are not under the illusion were gonna rid the...

    lionfish spearing

Pole spear and bag or lions den or similiar. We went out to the Naeco (out of Beaufort, NC) today on the Captian's Lady. Me, couple other instructors and even Leroy (Capt) SLAYED the lionfish. The 6 of us got 167 on 2 dives. Using pole spears, bags, lions den and a bucket/lid/bag...

Cut the small end to where its big enough for a fat lionfish to fit through. However, I've never seen one like the one mentioned.

Nice man, sounds legit. Thanks for sharing. The reducer seems like it should do the trick. Let me know how it works out.

    lionfish spearing

That's a good idea. Its only one species sold in the trade, but it would help. May be a cost thing though.

    lionfish spearing

No, I've stabbed them with a knife. 33" would be just fine

    lionfish spearing

I'm sure it would affect them, I don't know if it's the same though. The spines evolved for protection from predators. I have no idea, but it could be like us drinking snake venom. The venom doesn't affect us unless it gets into our bloodstream. So it may do no harm to the fish, unless it gets...
