    Euro-Divers Kandooma Review

That's unfortunate. Usually, it should be the other way around - doing whatever you can so as not to inconvenience the guest...not the staff. You're paying their bread and butter. You were very forgiving in giving them a second chance.

recently certified, got lots of random questions

    1) It's about creating good habits. Holding your breath underwater when you're not ascending is not dangerous per se, but it becomes a bad and dangerous habit. Say you end up in a situation where you panic; if you're in the habit of holding your breath, then you might forget to breathe and shoot...

Newbie seeking advise about diving spots in the Caribbean

I second Bonaire. The dive sites are very easily accessible. You'll have to do a check dive with one of the dive centres and attend an orientation to dive in the national park. Bonaire's shore diving is quite fantastic, and would do well for both advanced and beginning divers.

    Bitterness of Scuba Instructors

Matt, I know what you're talking about. This is my personal opinion, and I don't mean to offend anyone, but I've come across instructors like this..who have nothing but resentment and bitterness about their job and towards their students. I don't think it has anything to do with the years of...

Lost dive holiday whilst in the Maldives - do I have a case?

Wow. I can't imagine how frustrating that must've been for you. You planned your holiday, only to have it shot down by the dive center. While I can sympathize with you, the dive center actually didn't do any wrong. In fact, they did so in order to protect both you and them. If there had been a...

A whale shark from a different point of view...

Whoa. Didn't realize this. I spent a few months in the southern atoll Ghafu Dhalu...saw a whaleshark once, but it wasn't anything like this. Thanks for sharing

Bandos, Maldives, nice diving but discrimination from restaurant staff

Actually, I can understand where you're coming from, and how you felt, Fish10. The same attitude and behavior was carried out when I was working at a resort in the Maldives called Ayada. The resort didn't offer much when it came to food, service, etc, so they targeted primarily the Asian market...

Hyatt Maldives review (Park Hyatt Hadahaa)

Hi Leo, Glad you had a great time at the Park Hyatt. The Park Hyatt resort wasn't too far from the resort I was at, which is Ayada Maldives. Quite a few of our guests made their way to the Park Hyatt after staying in Ayada for a few nights. It just goes to show the world of difference between...

    Roatan and immunizations

You won't need anti malarial in Honduras, especially on the Bay Islands. I lived in Utila for 8 months, and traveled to Roatan. You definitely don't need malarial pills. There were no cases of malaria in Utila, and certainly not Roatan. If you do go to Utila, I would recommend bringing...

Who to do IDC with on Ultila?

I did my IDC with Utila Dive Center with Suzy Phipps. By far the best money I've spent. There are a lot of options out there, but email Andy Phillips who'll get back to you with all the information you'll need. If I could do it again, I would definitely do it with UDC. They are the best in...

    Whale Shark Season

At least in the Northern atolls, the season for Whalesharks are July to October. I was diving in the Southern Atoll, and saw whalesharks and mantas as late as December/beginning of January. It depends a lot on the plankton bloom because the whalesharks are migratory fish that follow the...
