Another thing you may want to try is to contact the Honduran embassy in Managua and see what they say about your problem of getting to SAP by land and/or about the road situation inside Honduras in general in case you choose to fly to Honduras.

Have you checked with TACA if they would change your SAP to Miami flight on Tuesday and let you fly from Managua via San Salvador instead? I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't let you do that even for a small fee given your situation (right now the fare on 8/4 is $570 per person)...
