First Cozumel Trip - Suggestions/Tips Welcome

We are both Rescue divers with over 100 dives. I would love to dive the cenotes but I need to work of my wife a little bit. She has no interest in cave diving...

First Cozumel Trip - Suggestions/Tips Welcome

I just booked our first Cozumel trip (10/24-11/3)! After doing some research on this board and other places, I booked a trip to Cozumel in Oct/Nov flying JFK direct into Cancun with Mexicana ($394 each ticket). I guess we will take the bus/ferry trip over to Cozumel but this will save us $500...

    Question for Suunto users

WaterFox, The answer to your question is: Suunto dive computers are, by default, among the most conservative dive computers on the market. With the Personal Adjustment Mode P1 and P2 you can choose to make them progressively more conservative. From the Suunto Vyper manual: The Personal...

What's your favorite dive related movie??

I just watched The Deep. It's a pretty good movie and it was interesting to see how different scuba gear was in the late 70's (no BCD!). The only thing I didn't like was Jacqueline Bisset playing with puffed porcupine fish in the opening credits. It was a sad way to start the movie and made me...

    Looking for Dive Destination Recommendations

In Roatan you may want to check out the Reef House Resort. Moderately priced, great food, and very few bugs (we were there a year ago and I don't even remember if there were bugs or not). In Bonaire, you may want to check out the Black Durgon Inn. We are going there in a week. Can't wait!

    Bonaire First Timers

My wife and I had a similar experience. Bonaire was our first dive trip after getting certified. One of the reasons why we picked Bonaire is because the diving is very easy. The reef is very shallow and close to shore so you don't have to dive deeper than 50' if you don't want to. We also...

    Bonaire's Future

For the sake of argument, let's say "fair enough" as they are allowed to dive only for one day. Can a land based non diver tourist take a one day discover scuba diving course and not have to pay the $25 yearly fee? Also, is there a special tag, pass, card, for such one day divers? If not, how...

    Bonaire's Future

Are you saying that divers from cruises do not need to pay the fee? That would be very unfair to those who choose to stay on the island and spend the most money to support the tourist industry.

    Shots for Roatan

I was in Roatan last year and I didn't take any shots. If you stay in an AI resort and do not plan to drink tap water or eat in restaurants outside the resort and such you should have nothing to worry.

Where to Go FIRST TRIP EVER

Depending on how long you are planning to go for, you could do both! Bonaire is a short 20 min flight from Curacao.

    Need my first spg

I just bought the Tusa SCA-120 from LP for $54.95. I was looking for an easy to read SPG with 100 PSI increments and the Tusa is exactly what I was looking for. There is no picture on the LP website but there is one here (Tabata USA, Inc. : SCA-120 PLATINA PRESSURE GAUGE [SCA-120] - $0.00). As a...

    Bonaire Trip Recommendations Please

March to May is the dry season and it's a great time to dive in Bonaire. We stay at the Black Durgon Inn (English). Right on the water, reasonably priced and free breakfast included (6 days a week). No pick up though. I am not really sure if anyone includes that. It depends on the dive...

    New Regulator Setup

What I seem to gather from the various replies is that I should have it set up and tested here (either by an LDS or myself) before I travel and then keep it set up (i.e. do not take it apart for travel). I am going to find out if Leisure Pro will to do it for me since I bought it there and they...
