    Suggested 02 Bank Storage Bottle?

Please remember the limited compressibility of gas. Past a certain point (like 240 bar) the actual amount of gas does not grow with the pressure. Hence, 400 bar is much less than twice the 200 bar. Go with the bigger bottles.

    SPG or not

Allright, you have done quite a lot of diving. The reason why some people might recommend a SPG in addition to an air integrated computer I do not know. Maybe, if you do ice diving or cave diving you might find a reason for one or the other or both, but in shallow open water diving I guess it...

    SPG or not

    Yes, duty of care.

    SPG or not

If your dives are shallow enough to allow for a direct ascent, then yes, you can even dive until you run out of air, and then resurface (please note that without air you cannot inflate a BCD so your buoyancy control needs to be perfect). There is a certain amount of risk involved though, and I...

    SPG or not

Who would trust complicated devices and software made by engineers, if ones life would depend on it? A simple mechanical SPG is quite reliable. Not perfect, but very good. Consoles are big and awkward.

Brand new to diving- just doing my online PADI stuff. Losing weight- can I only rent equipment?

Drysuits can be more baggy and comfortable and can thus accommodate a diver that looses or gains weight. They are expensive though, and complicated to control, until you master the skill.

Brand new to diving- just doing my online PADI stuff. Losing weight- can I only rent equipment?

The water at Cancun might be 26.7°C / 80°F Do you need a wetsuit for that??? I am skinnier than you and I've been diving for 30 mins in 22C to 16C in swimming trunks. I am used to the cold, though. With your weight, you might have a good shape to conserve heat. Without a diving suit that loses...

    Cold water & wet suit

Three finger mittens instead of 5-finger gloves. Wear merino wool gloves underneath. Let them get wet. No problem. Make sure they are actually natural wool, and not 80% plastic (elastane, polyester, nylon, ...)

    Cold water & wet suit

You will need a hood 7mm wetsuit, minimum Some people use more layers Eat well and rest. It sucks to be hungry, tired and cold.

    Delayed Drysuit Rinsing

Rubber, trilaminate or neoprene (crushed or not)? You can rinse it with a garden hose (or take a shower) as long as you do not spray water into the hood and thus into the suit. If water enters the suit, you will dry it for a week, untill the boots are dry ;) Sweat can accumulate, depending on...

I'm done forever with SCUBA diving!

Have you considered sidemount diving? With two small tanks? I've fallen on my back with such a rig and it wasn't all that terrible (because the tanks were to my sides and they were small). I can also carry them one by one to the water and don there. No heavy loads to carry. A flexible back. A...

Question Where do you get oxygen cylinders filled?

If I were a legislator, I would impose different tax on medical grade, aviators grade and welding oxygen. Bureaucracy would be different for all, but corporations might opt for one source for all for cost optimization.

    New Member, New Diver

Some of us are solo or part time solo divers. We enjoy the submerged world alone. It's great but it also requires a bit more caution. You would benefit from a dive buddy but unless you can find one, and you must dive, go to the solo divers forum. Now that you are a new diver, it would be very...

    regulator choice

The Scubapro is a piston reg and not optimal for extreme cold. As far as I know, the same is true for Atomic. Correct me if I'm wrong. Atomic is a titanium reg, thus lighter and better for air travel.
