you can use the gopro head strap under a hood if you like. Just be aware of your head movements.
It must be psychological but when I video a shot for 1min then play it back later on the computer it feels like 20 seconds (even though the full minute elapses).
So if you stare at something for...
I had started another thread because of this fact. No brainer with a map ...... but without a map? What techniques are used?
I ended up googlefinding a PDF syllabus of some CMAS world underwater federation program...
I'd wondered about this as well, not remembering having done that.
Just an air-off while kneeling at the pool bottom. It was interesting feeling the tank get shut off yet still having two breaths remaining in the system (at 12 feet).
My first dive since being certified. I went ahead and booked my instructor as a guide.
I thought it being July 4 would mean more people lol but it was four of us, guide included, plus the captain and DM.
We went out to Molasses Reef, once at Winch Hole (winch something) then a short idle to...
I suppose the real question is whether or not its worth buying the pak.
Once I 'got' it compass navigation was a no-brainer.
The big difference underwater is that there is no map.
So what key methods is the course teaching to overcome that?
One poster in another thread mentioned the star...
I found the 'yes' signal rather interesting. I think most people can figure out the other signals with just a slight explanation.
I'm going to do it more often for practice :D

how about Mares Raptor opens with hard sole boots?
My first open pair and they are nice. I see now how limiting full foot fins were.
The fastest? I doubt it but they help me avoid cramps and progress is fine.
fyi Pararescue and SEAL team guys do their surface fin swims on their side...
Good stuff. I'm trying to create a flexible setup using the least amount of extra weights lol. In case I go with a full wetsuit for example or a 1mm full suit, etc.
Basically trying to limit any necessary changes to just the trim weight locations.

sounds cool.
Generally speaking, is this type of thing only open to DMs?
Is being Rescue enough?
Just curious for future reference. It would be cool to be in something like 'Into the Blue' lol
So I've ordered the Aeris EX Lite BCD and have been pondering the weight setup.
Based on my fin tip bouyancy tests in OW, with a completely deflated Mares jacket BCD, 3/2 shorty with arms and the typical dive shop single tank, I am completely neutrally bouyant with a 14lb weight belt. We ended...
If they've applied for a patent that is public information and therefore searchable.
My idea has been to simply take the cover die and mold a red plastic instead of the black cover. It's so simple that I am simply waiting for someone with the gear to do it (are you reading GoPro?). The only...
The area from Miami to Ft Lauderdale is the closest to Bimini (the first islands in the Bahamas group) at around 45NM.
For Bahamas: There is a $300 entry fee, which covers the boat and 4 people then $15 for each additional person.
Yes to passport. The little passport card is NOT universally...
snorkel .... always.
cheap piece of gear that can make a difference.
small piece of gear that can be tucked away (or left on the mask).
versatile piece of gear that can help poke out a lobster/crab/lochness monster and get a good pic.
I got rid of the left one and am sticking with the...
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
BOOM!
Ok, on a serious note, according to my instructor most people have an issue with the breathing-underwater-without-a-mask part, a.k.a strict mouth breathing.
I never had an issue with it but a good training method I've seen is filling the mask half full...
Put enough water inside your bcd to then operate all the dump valves, clearing them and exercising them.
Part of my padi cert was a simple 5 min lesson on this stuff. It was also in the video.
One thing that stood out was to avoid submerging the first stage, just splash water on it.
Stills are just ok.
It's definitely made for video.
Once you use it enough times you know how to 'aim' to get the desired framing. This does mean though that any new mounting scheme will need a few test shots/clips first, which is how the LCD back comes in handy. I have been considering...
So what do you think? Go for the Veo at $150 or save up for a D4i or D6i?
My plan within the year is to complete AOW and stay within recreational limits. Wreck diving is an option considering the abundance of great ones here in south Florida. I'd also like to do the cool spots in Cozumel and...
