Light battery makes noise emanate from charging block??

Batteries should not make that type of noise. If it's making noise, in all likelihood there's an electrical fault that will eventually destroy the battery, and quite possibly anything around it. Faulty battery charging is one of the theorized causes of the Conception fire. Some batteries do...

    Fins dilemma ...

I take it you've never dove Florida caves then..... F1's, Jets (and similar clones), XT's are all excellent fins that provide both power in fast-moving water, and precise control. There's a reason that they're so popular in both open water, wrecks, high and low flow caves, etc.

Ankle weights are a poor substitute for proper gear and technique. Barring some sort of physical ailment, you should definitely be able to get it sorted out without having to resort to ankle weights. If using proper negative fins doesn't work, and you're still trapping air in your feet, get a...

    Fins dilemma ...

The OP specifically mentioned swimming in current in her original post. If fins are underpowered even within normal swimming conditions, they're even less so when you're requiring those fins to perform in hard use situations. Crappy fins in no current don't magically get uncrappy in current. The...

    Fins dilemma ...

The RK3's are floppy. I had to use them for work and they're trash. Total lack of power, they felt like they were folding in half on my feet and I was going nowhere, not good when you need to move fast underwater. The RK3 HD's are supposed to be stiffer, but I haven't tried them. If they're...

    First rebreather choice

Andrew's got tons of experience in both rebreather diving and general fabrication.. The OP does not. I wouldn't offer home-building a chest mount rebreather to a diver who has never been on the loop before.

    More conservative/"alternative" diving profiles?

The truth of the matter is that for recreational profiles and run times, it's not gonna make much of a difference. Really all you're doing is slowing your ascent. A slow multi-level bimble up to a safety stop depth is essentially doing the same thing. I dislike those settings in computers...

The short answer re:markings is, backgas doesn't require MOD markings beyond analysis tape because your backgas may change, regardless of whether you're using standard gases or not. The short answer re:best mix is, best mix sucks and is rarely the best for anything except some very limited...

    First rebreather choice

The big boon of SCR is that you can maintain your bailout reserves. If you were to carry enough bailout to cover your own gas, plus reserves, plus unknown emergencies, plus buddy reserves, plus, plus, plus, plus....... you can see how a 500ft. penetration dive could theoretically require 8...

    Got certified, now what?

The first rule of **** that people have thrown in Lake Pleasant, is don't talk about the **** people have thrown in Lake Pleasant. There was a huge blow up a couple months ago over that stuff, rangers gonna take it all, people sneak diving to move it, someone trying to put a plane in there....

    First rebreather choice

Many people start with an Inspo as their first rebreather, and far fewer buy an Inspo as their last rebreather. It's big and bulky and not super adaptable, and primarily viable for deep open water diving. Doesn't mean it's the wrong choice, just that there are more optimal choices out there that...

It's just an inherent problem in the design of the suit. If you want to make 3 sizes that fit everybody, you're gonna have a suit that is the perfect size for 3 people, and varying levels of compromise for the other 97% of people. The problem in all of that excess designed for someone bigger has...
