The Sandbar Grand Cayman is a Fraud/Scam

Pay attention to the area code. If they call back and it is a KS area code, ask them why.

The Sandbar Grand Cayman is a Fraud/Scam

If you Google 'The Sandbar at Grand Cayman' their website pops up on the 1st page and this thread pops up on the first page. That is it. The rest is about Stingray City and stuff. A thread that has only existed for two days is on the 1st page along with their site. Pretty sketchy or their...

The Sandbar Grand Cayman is a Fraud/Scam

It is funny though there is not a single PADI logo on their site. I just pulled up three other 'dive operators in Cayman and all three had PADI logos on their site.

    Pony bottle ascent schedule?

Hello Dave! Typically they say that your pony should match your back gas. A fair amount of folks will carry a higher FO2 gas in the pony. Not a 'deco' FO2 (50%, 80%, 100%), but something like EAN40. At ppFO2 of 1.6, that give you an MOD of 99fsw. If you cruising at 130fsw using your...

So you have a company who doesn't have an address, says they are in the Caymans but folks from there don't seem to know them, claim to be PADI but aren't on their site, phone numbers from Kansas but do the evaluation in Florida, make you pay for the interview, will pay for future IDC training...

    Dive Alert not working underwater

I was on a live aboard a couple of years ago and there was a large group of ladies from Texas there and they all had that Subduck thing. It took me a few days to figure it out, but it sounded like the constant quacking of a flock of ducks. They were communicating UW using Morse code. If I...

PADI Divemaster..Cost of Insurance of Maintenance

You definitely have to pay your dues. The insurance though I don't think is 'required' to considered current.

The Sandbar Grand Cayman is a Fraud/Scam

All their phones numbers they list are for Kansas. They Cayman country code is 345. Pretty sketchy. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Lets say your actually work full time for them at $100/day, $500/week, $2000/month, $24000/year, plus a $2k bonus after a year, plus medical...

    Master Scuba Diver Certification

Some are saying to go and do a tech course and some are saying to go and do the DM course. Most are saying to skip the Master Diver. Shouldn't there be a regional consideration between going tech or going DM? For instance if the OP lives in FL where there is a lot of cave diving, doing a...

    Rapid Emergency Ascent

You can hear the candidate/student doing the 'ahhhhhh' thing on the way up. I imagine as soon as they open up the sub to the outside, they would then be experiencing that pressure. Since they are still breathing in the bubble suit once they are exposed to the pressure I'd suspect they would...

I love that movie! At least were not trying to put electrolytes on everything. I does feel like folks are going to Costco to buy the college degrees.:D

    Dolphins safe or not?

I had a near dolphin experience off the OBX a few years ago. My buddy and I would watch this pair of dolphins cruise by every morning. One morning we hoped in the kayaks and went out. Sure enough the pair started to head our way. Off we went. It was a mother and her calf. The vis was crap...

18' Pacific Dory dive boat for sale

I don't think his is, but I just came across a site where they are using stick-and-glue on 20+ foot boats. I think one was a 27'. Never the less, pretty damned cool! I wish I had the space to even attempt to build one.

    Rapid Emergency Ascent

So do you think the military is looking at these rapid ascent things from a statistical point of view? If they didn't have them and the sub goes down there are 100% casualties. If they have these they could cut that to 50% casualty rate.

18' Pacific Dory dive boat for sale

I've known folks, personally, that have built stitch and glue kayaks. It never dawned on me the concept could get bigger. That is very cool.
