anyone have experience with pinnacle wetsuits?

I've had one of the pinnacle semi-drys for a couple of years. 8mm with hood. Can't remember the name. The zipper is finally starting to give way. It has been a very good suit. I'm happy to see it going. Switching to dry here shortly. As a whole it is well made and has survived a lot of...

    My first OW experience

Hello Travis99! What quarry did you go to? As has been pointed out, it will get warmer. I just want to add if you can get certified and dive in our local quarries (cold, dark, not so hot vis) and do well in them, when you get to nice warm waters, you'll find that you will settle into...

Not enough lp ports on my 1st stage!

I just looked up the Brut. It has 4 LP ports. 1 BCD, 1 DS, 1 Primary and 1 Secondary. You should have enough? Is there port on the 'bottom' of it?

    cold water regs

They used to advertise it is a cold water reg. It had something called T.I.S.. It is some teflon sleeve. That is supposed to make it a cold water reg. I've also read where folks have packed the spring area with silicon. Maybe their definition of cold water and mine are different...

    cold water regs

Even detuned my MK25's have froze open in cold water (>40degreeF) my Apeks haven't.

    Regulators for Tech Diving

Personally I'm a big fan of Apeks. In reference to your ScubaPro choices. The MK25 is not suitable for cold water. Even detuned I've had my MK25 freeze open countless times in >40degreeF water. I'd lean more towards the MK17. It is sealed. Some Sherwoods were designed to leak.

1st Apeks reg service - missing part?

Look on page 20 of the FSR & FST manual. The conical filter is held in place by the DIN or yoke. http://www.frogkick.dk/manuals/apeks/ Did you ever had it converted from DIN to yoke or visa versa?

    Accident To Treatment

Interesting article. It is citing a lot from the 80's and 90's. The latest being 1993. Surely there something more current. Deco for Divers by Marc Powell has some interesting arguments, both for and against, IWR.

    Accident To Treatment

For the reasons you've cited, in water recompression may be the only viable alternative. For what you are doing, I'd really, really consider investing in one of those emergency O2 rebreathers than DAN sells. I think they call them the REMO2. One of those and a few bottles of O2. Added...I...

    Service Your Own Regs

+1 for the VH book on regulator repair. Get that and do some reading. It isn't rocket science, but you will need a couple of specific tools and it will tell you how to make, improvise or where to buy them.

Putting NITROX labels on tank boots, is this crazy ?

I have had them, last October, fill tanks with AIR that had old NITROX stickers on them (O2 clean VIP stickered) and at the end of the week they even filled a couple of tanks that didn't have NITROX stickers (again, O2 clean VIP stickered) with EAN32.

Putting NITROX labels on tank boots, is this crazy ?

If the shop partial pressure blends EAN, you need to have O2 clean tanks. If they bank EAN, no need. Stickers are not required so I'd say don't take your business to shop that 'require' you to have stickers.

    How Much is Too Much?

A lot also depends upon the frequency of the swell. Here in the Chesapeake 5-6' swells SUCK in smaller boats. 30' and bigger is just sucks. However out in the Atlantic 5-6' swells aren't that bad. In the Bay they have a very short frequency and in the Ocean they have a longer frequency...

    Vote for H2O 70

I'll follow up on the poll. Thank you for the feedback. As for the rest of it. The way that they, Pepsi, structured the proposal was in chunks of money, $5000, $25000, $50000, & $250000. So we couldn't apply for $20000. Everything had to add up to $25000. So yes, some does seem inflated...

How Much Dry Suit Does a New Diver Really Need?

I've been shopping dry suits. I speculate that if you have a dry suit, you'll likely dive locally more often. There is actual evidence out there supporting if you are warm and comfortable your body will off gas more effectively during your SS or deco stops, reducing the opportunity for DCS...
