I second the praise of XCEL. I have a 7/6/5 XCEL and am completely toasty even at Temps to 50F. If you are going to be doing a lot of cold water diving I would highly suggest saving your money and getting a dry suit. They are expensive, but completely worth the investment if you plan on doing...
Personally I never use the inflator/exhaust on my Seaquest Blackdiamond (which I <3) For one thing with thick gloves on it's hard to get the buttons in the first place. On my lp inflator the exhaust and fill buttons are located on opposite sides of the mechanism which simplifies things a...
Usually my favorite pair of board shorts/swim trunks. As for getting your wetsuit on and off with ease use a plastic bag over your feet and hands, such as the kind you get from the grocery store. Makes getting into even the tightest wetsuit easy.
spectrum,
The shop I went through is PADI affiliated. You spend some time reading the various sections in a book and complete some knowledge reviews, no actual class time. The pre-dive briefings were not incredibly intense, but I think that is dependent on the instructor. The best advice I...
Well, this is it. After a month long surface interval my Advanced Open Water class is to be completed and in a short time I’ll have a shiney new c-card. Big deal, I’m more interested in the skills. The previous four dives leading up to this night dive were concentrated in three...
Anyone know any good diving jokes? riddles? puns?
I saw this one on another site and I'm sure some have seen it before....
Four diving instructors and their classes were on a boat that struck a rock and began sinking ...
The SSI instructor told his class: "Inflate your BCs and surface...
I got into diving this summer and have almost finished my AOW class. I'm just interested in seeing how much everyone has spent on this great hobby.
For me the grand total is approaching 4,500 and worth every penny.
I dive for one reason and one reason only...you just look so damn cool in all that gear it mesmerizes non-diving folk. (of course there are tons of other reasons, but that one is my favorite)
2 Questions actually.....
1. I have the opurtunity to get a Vivitar Vivicam 4100 for free. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could price an underwater case for this camera, or even if one existed.
2. I also have the opurtunity to get a Canon Camcorder, not sure what model it is...
The heck with the ultimate gas...all we need is a little genetic research into allowing humans to breath underwater through the use of gills. Now wouldn't that be something....
I agree on the distractive potential of listening to music while you should be paying attention to other things. I'm not saying I would necessarily indulge in such a device (I'd personally rather spend the 400ish bucks on something useful such as a diving toy or put the money towards a little...
Here's a thought I've had for a while. Has anyone ever developed a way to listen to music while diving? I would think this task would be accomplished with an iPOD type device, but the ear buds would probably not be suitable to dive with as they block the ear canal and with a hood (which I use...
Concerning exposure suits I dive in New Jersey, where bottom temps are usually around 55-65F in the summer. I dive a 7/6/5 that I bought for $300 from xcell ( I believe they were into surfing style suits and this is their first venture into diving ). On my last dive offshore the bottom temp...
Hello everyone,
I am from New Jersey and do 99.9% of my diving in the great state of NJ. Just recently got certified in the cold and murky waters off NJ but have been snorkeling and swimming in them since I was a wee bit toddler. Just wanted to say hello and look forward to conversing with...
