Luckily this didn't happen to me, but the actual musselee was ok following the incident.

    Mussel Pickers Beware

Reposted from New Jersey Scuba Divers Message Board.... The SpringTide went to the Agolt under flat cool conditions - after a quick hook in at 78 feet, vis was 12feet - conditions - no waves, no wind, no current 53F? i think - i went to the decking to pick my favorite easy shellfish - things...

    Do you Drink and Dive?

I was incredibly hungover from a work related staff party for my last 2 ow check out dives. I was plenty hydrated (always drink lots of water) but putting on all that gear and a wetsuit in the dog days of august and the scorching heat was certainly not fun. Since then I never drink before...

    Any ideas for Christmas gifts?

Gift certificates work well, maybe coupons for airfills or charters. Item wise, a computer, dive light, or a float/flag. Spearguns are good to :-P

    Drysuits and Buoyancy

Here's one that popped into my head....maybe you guys can help. Let's say I'm diving a drysuit and I've achieved perfect neutral buoyancy. Without inhaling or exhaling, if I fart will I go positive and start to rise?

Theoretical Gas Blends for Rec Diving

One main reason is cost, second reason is the fact that helium is an excellent conductor of heat, so unless your toying with this stuff down south, up north you need a seperate gas for drysuit inflation (usually argon) after a while your spending mucho $$$ on gas. I know you wanted scientific...

    Dive Fatigue?

Funny story about last weekend relating to "diving fatigue" Picked up new drysuit last Saturday at 5pm, after playing with it for a while (of course any new piece of gear has to be tried on with all other gear) finally got to bed around midnight. Up at 7AM to be at pool complex at 8AM for...

    A lilNervous

<- Look at my avatar, as with anything "Don't Panic" Can diving be nerve wracking? Bet your kiester it can, I still get antsy when I'm about to hop off a boat into the middle of the ocean. First thing I say to myself is, "your f....g nuts, here goes nothing though" With proper training...

    What makes you go "wow"

Set off for a 1 tank dive this morning on a nearby reef, visited a tugboat (http://www.njscuba.net/reefs/site_venturo.html. Conditions beautiful, fairly calm seas, 50 top side, 54 down below. This is was my fourth offshore dive to this reef, visibility has not been as great as it was earlier...

    Salinity Reports

Thanks! Main reason I wanted to know is because I will be doing a live-a-board in March out of Freeport and was wondering if there were any salinity differences that would effect my weighting. Of course I'll do weight checks when I arrive, just food for thought though.

    Salinity Reports

Anyone know off hand where I can find salinity reports for different parts of the world? More specifically I'm interested in the ocean encompassing the Bahamas. Thanks.

    An honest question

The closest thing I'll ever see to a 3mm is the skirt on my hood :-). I dive primarily in NJ so unless your doing shallow diving a drysuit is the exposure protection of choice. Makes a lot of sense now that a good number of divers around here would use these as many of the more elusive wrecks...

    An honest question

So if your a tech diver this set up pays off big time. Can you elaborate on the weight distribution? Also, is there a considerable price differential between the two? If there are any recreational divers that use this system I'd like to hear why as well. Thanks for the response.

    An honest question

I know some people like to use a typical bc and some people like to wear a bp/w setup which I don't have a problem with, to each his own. I personally use a seaquest black diamond weight integrated back inflate bc. I really can't see the difference between that and a bp/w setup. Does it have...

You might be a scuba addict if...

-You take care of your Scuba gear better than your car -The most expensive suit you own is a drysuit -Whenever entering a store you look at every item and wonder how you could relate it to diving -You stay up till 3 AM designing some new diving gizmo while you should be studying for an upcomming...

    First dry dive...

I did my first dry dive today as well. All in all it's going to be hard to put a wetsuit on ever again, although I still think diving without getting wet doesn't "count" for some reason. Best thing I have found with diving a drysuit, however, is that my buoancy control is much easier with the...

    PADI vs NAUI

So much arguing about which agency I think the only way to settle is with an all out fin brawl between nominated gladiatorial instructors from each agency. Put them all on a little dingy and last one standing wins the title of Best Agency Ever and gets the ensuing best agency ever c-card along...

    Peaceful moments

3rd OW Checkout Dive in the back bay of a SW River...bout 18 or so feet....viz was an astounding 20ft.
